proud fistCamp Pendleton Marine Sgt. Gary Stein is facing a disciplinary hearing for engaging in online political activity. Stein, founder of a Facebook page called “Armed Forces Tea Party” already has been the subject of a preliminary hearing into his activities.

In a release the Marines Corps said, after reviewing the findings of the preliminary inquiry, the commander decided to address the allegations through administrative action.

Members of the armed forces have strict guidelines for what forms of political speech and activity they can engage in while still in active duty.

In addition, there are rules on what can be said about a commanding officer. As president, Obama is Commander In Chief of all the armed forces.

You can't put something on a public webpage slamming the Commander in Chief and saying that you won't follow his orders if you're a Marine. This guy deserves everything he's going to get. Other than Honorable discharge for you, Buster.

Yes of course , As far as we know he is leaking info too the enemy . As is tea party is commie sympathizers that love outsourcing to the commies . They pretend to love this country so much but if a dollar is to be made from the commies they jump on the chance though it means putting fellow Americans out of work . I believe what we are dealing with in the tea party are runaway tea members with commies running them . Down with the tea party they should be run out of this country . we need good old fashion patriots not commie sympathizers

Actually what he stated was in the UCMJ, which state that no service member shall follow an unlawfull order. I guess since that Obama is in office its against the UCMJ to for lawful orders.

Certainly not to the fullest extent of the law, but part of his oath when he joined was that he would abide by military law and there is a ban on political activism that's been there since before I was in. (1979)

He can't be exempted from the UCMJ without making it meaningless to the rest of the military. America isn't quite as free when you put on a uniform as it is for civilians, but those are and always have been the rules.

He has the right to vote for whoever he wants, he can talk about politics in public when he's not in uniform, but he cannot be a political activist. If he uses his rank in posting online, it's the same as being in uniform because he's identifying himself with the military.

I hope the Sgt. is given the harshest penalty possible if he's found guilty, because it's so important that those in the military follow rules. When they decided to take matters in their own hands, people can die as a result of it, etc. The Sgt. need to be made an example out of, so that if the next person in uniform wants to go down the same road, he or she may be reluctant to do so.

Military rules are military rules. The Pentagon is the military.
