Feminism: Support of social, political and economical rights for women equal to those of men. That's from the dictionary. If that is the definition of feminism than I suppose I am a feminist.

Yes, feminism as in for equality. We all should have the same opportunity and freedom to live our lives and not be labeled and judged unfairly by social stigmas.

Indeed. Whenever I've admitted that I'm a feminist around a certain group of people they often have a strange look on their faces as if I'm admitted that I'm some sort man-hating extremist. It's crazy. Most of my friend's are men and I've never been anti-man my whole life, I just have to explain to people what the term means. I'm not going to stop calling myself a feminist just because some people want to ruin the meaning of a word standing for equality which many men and women have fought hard for a long time to achieve.

A woman is equal to a man. Equal rights and freedoms. We have proven that we can do a man's job and still raise a family. A woman should have the final say over what she does with her own body.

I have the belief that women deserve equality so that makes me a femenist as oposed to a creationist who believes that women are to be subordinate and submissive to all of the male gender... I do not care that gawd punished Eve for giving Adam a pomegranate and the punishement is that all womankind forever will suffer the horrors and pains of childbirth as gawds revenge to Eve...

I support equal legal, social, and economic status and freedoms. I don't think "gender-typical" behavior should be considered binding, and all other things equal a woman should be paid the same, respected the same, and allowed to behave in the same way as a man in the same social position without formal or informal sanctions.

Defining feminism as striving for gender equality then yes I am a feminist. I believe men, women and those who don't identify as either are equal. That there should be guaranteed equal opportunity but not outcome. That if a women or a man wants to stay home and do domestic work there should be no problem. That if a women wants to have control over her reproductive system then she should have that control. That it's not only wrong that custody is often awarded to the wife solely because of her gender but that there are way too many single mothers who are left struggling in poverty because the father contributes nothing.

I consider myself an "equal rights under the law for everybody" kinda guy. No particular gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or set of abilities and disabilities should receive any special privilege over any other as far as law and government are concerned. Each of us is a unique individual with talents and interests all our own, and to try and cram everyone into boxes based on superficial categories is a supremely flawed idea.

I'm for equal entrance and rights, but given the modern day term of "feminism" I cannot say I am a feminist. The modern term does not mean equality of rights, but rather equality of outcomes. Today's feminism is anti-man, so obviously I cannot be for that.

A "cave person" is someone who thinks today's "feminism" is actually about equal rights.

Mainly because every time I hear someone talk about feminism, they are always talking about how women are the same as men, but then they start on about how women are superior to men. I think we are equal in most ways, but men are superior in some things, while women are superior in others. It is all kinds of grey areas, but in general, this tends to be true.

My grandmother is one of the loony ones. Like she gets offended if people address mail to "Louie and Ann" instead of "Ann and Louie".

...No, I don't think I'll start getting offended if people don't address our mail to Sarah and Isaiah. As I said, the woman is a loony. She has no interest in being treated equally, she simply wants to be treated special. She still expects doors to be opened and chairs to be pulled out.

A statement which would greatly offend her, as she's not that old, and doesn't appreciate people trying to treat her like she's old enough to deserve goodies. You should see the fuss she puts up about movie theaters trying to give her a discount.

Nothing wrong with wanting the doors to be opened, or chairs pulled out, and given a helping hand. Does she say thank you?

There IS something wrong with it. She doesn't expect it because she's old, she doesn't expect it because it's polite, she expects it because she's a woman.

Is there anything wrong with it? No. But you can't have your cake and bitch about it being a cake as well. If you do not comprehend the contradiction that is her expectations, then I'm afraid you and I have nothing to say to each other any more.
