It is artificially created by politicians to try to take votes away from the other side. The media joins them in foisting this contrived delusion onto people and unfortunately, some people come to believe it's true.

Yes. What most people fail to realize is how little time has actually passed since women were viewed as inferior. Women did not have the vote until 1920, my own grandmother was 15 when women first received the vote. It wasn't until the 70's that women having careers became more mainstream. When I was child, my grandfather told me that I was a smart little girl and could one day be a teacher or nurse. I said that I would rather be a principal or a doctor, he just laughed and patted my head. I am only in my 40's. Women need to realize that the rights we currently have, have not been with us that long. How terrible would it be if we lost any of them!

But I do remember the dispicible war the dems committed on hillary clinton, that was a war on at least one woman, and they were pretty damn savage!

A USA Today/Gallup survey of 12 of the top battleground states recently found that Mitt Romney had lost 14 points among women in the months after he and many other Republicans objected to mandating that contraception be covered by the health insurance offered by religious institutions. Six in 10 voters favored Obama, while only 30 percent supported Romney. http://www.usatoday.com/news/...

It's hilarious how the GOP try to divert attention away from their failed war on women to Obama.

If the day ever comes when rape in the eyes of the law is considered as bad or worse than unarmed robbery maybe that will be one sign that it is over. But I guess we have made some progress in about the last 100 years.lol.

Women earn approximately 77 cents for every dollar men earn. Minority women fare significantly worse - black women earn 66 cents, while Hispanic women earn 56 cents for every dollar men earn.
In 2001, the median annual earnings of white males with a four-year college degree was $55,307, while white women with the same educational attainment earned $40,192. Black women and Hispanic women with the same education credentials suffered from an even larger gap. Black women with equal college credentials earned $36,253, while Hispanic women with equal college credentials earned only $34,060. Also, on average, a woman with a master's degree makes $4,765 less than a man with a college degree.

Those numbers are deceptive. You can't just go by any college degree. You have to compare people with the same degrees with the same job.

I and everyone live out here in the reality and we are not blind nor stupid. If you wish to believe women are treated equally in society thats your right of course.I find it amazing that there are people still existing today who somehow come to that conclusion and thats my right too.A Drug store with 5000 stores and 52 thousand workers filed for bankruptcy this year. The firm only employed women on the checkout counter and the men did the organizing.Guess who got the lower wages?.LOL.The owner paid regularly the fine in the EU court for sex discrimination as that didnt hurt his yearly profits and is not the reason for the Bankruptcy. There are thousands of example and we all know the way of the world as it is and as I say,if you seriously think otherwise thats up to you.I dont care.

That's selective demographics. The people who were at the checkout counter took jobs to their abilities and education. My pharmacy has plenty of female pharmacists. Their saleries are higher than the stock boy who fills the shelves. Compare the same education, the same job, the same level of experience. No difference.

Right, according to gender-job positions are allocated and no education required for unskilled labor.

Please dont bother to tell me that in the world of business and in society there is no gender discrimination, not least because reading your posts you are the sort that defends it.thanks.

There isn't. You're living under a Liberal lie. If a company paid women less for the same job, they would be sued to no end. Obviously you don't work in the real world.
  • Sir Bud Marlow ... 2012/04/16 17:06:18
    Sir Bud
Your ignorance is very obvious and you are not capable to realize that you have shown so far in nearly every one of your posts that you have a stereotype discriminative personality("You're living under a Liberal lie."-being the last hint).

The fines are paid as with the company I mentioned previously and are expected. Is a drop in the ocean regarding the gross turnover profit. That game is played all over the world of economics.Besides,it is not about less pay for the same job,but about employing women only for specific jobs and men for others.Gender discrimination is a reality of Society and you are the type that want to sustain that with your so called"traditional gender rolls" while at the same time attempt to stand in public-ethically correct, which is why you keep replying to me and not because you are interested in my opinion. Its your conscious and I am not interested in being your platform to stage your conflict between yourself. So please,do not reply to me again.

Women have preferences. They are under Title IX, Affirmative Action, protection from sexual harassment, and probably a number of other things I'm not even aware of. Do men have anything of the sort going for them? NO!!! It's obvious the war is on men, not women.

There has always been a war against women by men who feel women are not good enough to do a mans job.
Always will be until we as a society learn to respect each other.
And I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Of course there the right wing is waging a war on women. The problem with the right wing is they don't realize what the are doing. Rowe vs. Wade will not be overturned so they are doing their best to stop it through big government legislation. The right wing likes to think of themselves as the party of the people but they couldn't be farther from the truth.

Over 90 bills were brought to the house but not one jobs bill. Over a 1000 bills have been brought to various states since the Republicans won a lot of seats in 2010. They even tried to redefine rape as forcible rape meaning that the women (THE VICTIM) had to prove that she tried to get away before they would the criminal. Let me talk to the ass that brought that to floor. We'll have what we used to call, a parking lot conversation.

They voted against the Lilly Ledbetter act. They don't want to provide contraception for women. The list goes on and on and the denials never stop. So, yeah I would say there is an attack on women.

The only on-going war I've ever seen against women was started by, and is continued by, conservatives.

Conservatives don't hate women; they're just ignorant about the needs of most women in our society.

And they don't mean to make women second-class citizens, but because of the way they were raised, conservatives don't know how to accept women and allow them to be equals.

Simply put, conservatives just need to be educated. In time, they'll come around.

why is this becoming such an issue when it's a non-issue. Except for those women who want free health care, free child care, free food, and free housing...did I miss anything? To live in a free society like ours doesn't mean you get all that stuff for free or that you're entitiled to it just because you're a women, or a minority, or simply lazy.

The White House and its designated hatchet woman Hillary Rosen have shown their real attitudes about women by suggesting that women who stay at home and take care of their children are lazy and have do not have to do any work. They further suggest that Ann Romney and "stay at home moms" do not have any valid opinions on economic issues and do not understand the struggles that women go through every day. Anne Romney, who has suffered from Multiple Sclerosis and Breast cancer, has raised 5 children and has been a homemaker, but apparantly the Democrats think she is too stupid and lazy to have her views be respected by anybody. The liberal Democrats have declared war on women! Hillary Rosen has become the Reverend Jeremiah Wright of 2012! Congratulations, Mr. President! You sure know how to associate with the right people. When can we expect to hear from Bill Ayers?

that's like asking if God exists. God is a concept that does not need empirical proof. Dogma is all that is needed. Some people are going to insist there is an 'agenda' and some people are going to discount that notion. It all comes down to asking what is the 'bill' and who's gonna pay it... the rest plays out in rhetorical nonsense.

"War" is probably an unhelpful word choice. We live in a patriarchal society in which men are uncomfortable if they do not control women, and our society uses law and religion and violence to control women and our choices. The Republican Party is very supportive of the patriarchical nature of our society. So, for example, Republicans are outraged when a woman Georgetown University student believes that, as part of her health care plan, for which she is paying indirectly, she should be provided with reproductive health care, including prescription contraceptives. Prominent Republicans, and not-so-prominent Republican members of Sodhead, call the woman a "slut". The idea of women making their own choices and controlling their destinies challenges the existing power structure, the existing patriarchy, and the establishment Republicans want to stop us.
