I see a lot of blame for this going towards Obama. It won't get me the top comment, but in case anybody's reading these, I have to disagree with that notion.
The problem lies deeper than that. The problem is that we are a nation of people who have forgotten how to think. The problem is that we're singularly the greediest generation in United States history. The problem is that we demand liberties and handouts but have no concept of civic duty.
The problem is that we're a nation where corporations have bought and paid for our elected officials, who in turn have enacted ludicrous laws and regulations, and all WE care about is whether the government or the corporations should accept sole blame.
The problem is that we're a nation where officials who make policies about education and technology come from groups of people who vehemently believe in mythology over science. The problem is that we think in labels and buzzwords instead of concepts and connections. The problem is that we're so afraid of that which is foreign or unusual that we fail to improve ourelves.
The problem is us. We're the voters, and the politicians come from among our numbers.
