Do you believe the claim that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney hasn't paid income taxes for 10 years?

bob 2012/08/07 17:31:10
I believe the claim that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney hasn't paid income taxes for 10 years
I do not believe the claim that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney hasn't paid income taxes for 10 years
Romney rigged the 2010 and 2012 returns to add credibility to his campaign
It’s up to Gov. Romney to release his returns and disprove the rumors.
It is a tradition of presidential candidates releasing multiple years of tax returns. Accept for the crooks like Nixon and Romney

I'm inclined to believe that to be true ... I simply cannot imagine why he would continue to be so secretive about the matter, given the fact that his predecessors have been more open about the subject.

As a republican, I don't know what to think. It's traditional to expose this information to the voting public and, given the sneakiness of the superpacks and Romneys nature, I believe it would be to his benefit to reveal the last ten years in order to get rid of all these rumors. It would not hurt a thing. It' his fathers legacy he'd be answering to. There is too much controvercy over this issue and it needs to be eliminated immediately. It's only a big deal if he isn't transparent.

I see NO reason for Mitt Romney or anyone to turn PRIVATE tax records over to the press or any one else. Common sense tells me in no way would the I.R.S. let anyone go 10 years with out
filing taxes,The government would be on him like a fly on fly paper.

Are you missing the point here? This is no worse than your employer (us) wanting to run your credit information. George Romney( mitts dad) believed this transparency to tax records is vital to the transparency of the role of president. Why is it so bad? Is Romney not an upstanding citizen? All the others have shown theres. Is this something to do with the mormons? It's just a small, traditional, protocal for running for president. Just show us your cards. He's not a private citizen anymore. He chose this.

WHY IS BAROCK OBAMA HIDDING HIS COLLEGE RECORDS?
    A. He was a member of a White Supremacy group.
    B. He was a member of the young Republicans?
    C. He was a member of campus Islamic Society? (nothing to be ashamed of)?
    D. He was caught by Campus security shagging an under aged girl?
    E. He was caught by campus security shagging an under aged boy?
    F. He was enrolled as a foreign exchange student from Indonesia?
    G. He is not Barry Soweto but an imposter who assumed Barrys identity?
    H. All of the above.

Barry may not have taxes to pay but he may have to pay the piper,,you know the one marching with the flag and drummer boy.

I DO NOT believe the claim that Mitt Romney has not paid income taxes for 10 years, there are things I do not like about him but that is not one of them.Really personal taxes are supposed to be just that PERSONAL.I am not a politican canidate but I am uncomfortable with anyone that wants that personal information its no body's business,so far as a presidential canidate its enough he paid no one needs to know how much.Rest assured he paid or that fact would have come out long ago.Death & taxes you can not evade. But he needs to

    The possibility exists.

Its not Like "Harry" to fan flames where a fire doesn't exist.

I paid income taxes and found enough deductions to receive 95% of it back.

Now that could be he would have to beat accountants. But thats the GOVERNMENTS problem not his.I could not take a lot of deductions that I could before & it hurt.Like interest on home loan.

I don't dispute the use of tax policies and loopholes that enable individuals to zero out their tax liabilities. Having no tax due and owed and "having paid taxes" isn't the same.

Not having to pay any taxes on income is the same as "not paying taxes".

And furthermore, if no one can prove that Romney violated our tax laws this is a non issue. Romney should not not spend one damn second responding to inquiries about his taxes.

    Edensasp
Violated laws? Who is suggesting that laws were violated besides you and Fox news?

Reid stated unequivocally that Romney hadn't paid any taxes in 10 years. He didn't say that Romney committed tax fraud.

Implementing and using lawfully sanctioned tax policy loopholes and deductibles to zero out your tax liabilities is not a criminal action. Not having to pay any income tax and "Not paying any Income tax" are the same no matter how you look at it.

Soooooo.... What's the fuss about? This is low road "birther" stuff. The Obama people need to move on to something more constructive. We know that Mitt Romney is rich. Hell, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and John Kerry are rich, too. That doesn't disqualify them to be president.

This is but another example of GOVERNMENT getting into personal papers of citizens,I could maybe understand Mitt Romney making his records public after he became PRESIDENT but right now he is a U.S. citizen & entittled to PRIVACY.What happened to invasion of privacy law? Has that changed too?

This is so pathetic..We all know what this is all about..What Romney needs to do is this.. He needs to make a deal with Obama, and say this..If you will pull out all of your records that you have had sealed, (and Obama has spent thousands of dollars doing so)..like all of your college records, including all your grades, and the original copy of your birth certificate, and all of your tax records.Than and only than will I reveal mine..I know for a fact that they have already dug into Romney's past school records, and they already know what his grades were, and the teacher even had a note attached to his report card that said..He (Romney) was going to have a great future..Obviously Romney never bothered sealing his records..I guess Romney had nothing to hide..

That would definitely put a stop to all this nonsense about Romney's tax records..

The rich want to stay rich, duh! You don't stay rich by paying tons of taxes. I would do the same thing if I were him, but I'm never running for president and I'm not a model member of society. I hate him because he wants to run our country, but is as corrupt as they can get. All of the other rich bastards can throw their money into the ocean for all I care because they're NOT TRYING TO RUN OUR COUNTRY.

I have been a democrat my whole life as was my father & mother they felt as if the republicans where for business & democrats where for the people, they have both passed but I wonder what they would say now.Do not begrudge Mitt Romney for the money he has made
because the way our country is set up ANYONE can become a millionaire, not true in other countries the people are subjects of whoevers in charge,we need to keep our country the way it is,& right now it seems as if Mitt Romney is our voice.
