    They currently have a mix of socialism and totalitarianism, with a dash of capitalism tossed in. They will always be waiting in the wings for us to have a weakness that they can use such as muslims trying to take us over with the help of BO.

    most russian people have always had someone telling them how and where to live and what job to do, etc. the czars, then the politburo. the street level difference between their government and ours is; their form of government tells citizens what they can and will do, ours (ideally) tells us only what we cant do. they should have made gorbacev czar when they had the chance. best russian leader in the last 400 years.

    Because under Communism, Russia could not compete in the world market. Under Communism, people in the Soviet Union could not own printers for their computers. Government control in the Soviet Union was stifling economic development, and it was holding the Soviet Union back. The reason why it was different for China, is because China started to allow manufacturing for profit. This was not done in the former Soviet Union.

    I have a Russian daughter living there. She and so many other young people want reforms and a free country but says that the system is quite corrupt. Putin then Medvedev and back to Putin and she says that it will go on like that for as long as the two men want it that way. She says that elections seem to be pre-determined there and there seems to be no way to get a reformer in.

    Yeah, they seem headed back to Communism. I was hoping for better 20 some years ago when I was stationed in Europe and the "Supreme Soviet" dissolved itself. It appears that some of the old guard are still around and want to take Russia back to 1975. If it keeps going this way I'm going to ask her to come here. I just hope that we still have a country here to bring her to.

    We need to get the communists out of office in our country. Maybe we can trade them for some Russian and Ukrainian people who want to be free?

    We might become communist someday but it will probably not be soon. People are still scared of Communism. Besides, Russia was NEVER communist. The USSR was socialist. According to Marx, the founder of communism, the first step is socialism. It's not communism unless there is no money and everyone is really equal. And if do attempt communism again, hopefully we can do it differently/in a less violent or forceful way. Communism needs to be cooperative! I like Lenin but I always disliked Stalin because he took communism in a violent way which is not needed.
