Do You Believe Jesus Christ Died For You?

coup de grâce 2010/11/27 22:27:24

We have all heard the Christmas story and most of us believe this story. Do most of us believe this child who was born at Christmas was born to die for you, for me?

At the age of 33, Jesus was condemned to the death penalty. At the time crucifixion was the "worst" death. Only the worst criminals were condemned to be crucified. Yet it was even more dreadful for Jesus, unlike other criminals condemned to death by crucifixion, Jesus was to be nailed to the cross by his hands and feet.
jesus criminals condemned death crucifixion jesus nailed cross hands feet

Each nail was 6 to 8 inches long. The nails were driven not into His palms as is commonly portrayed. There is a tendon in the wrist that extends to the shoulder. The Roman guards knew that when the nails were being hammered into the wrist, that tendon would tear and break, forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support himself so that He could breath. Both of His feet were nailed together. Thus He was forced to support Himself on the single nail that impaled His feet to the cross. Jesus could not support Himself with His legs because of the pain, so He was forced to alternate between arching His back then using His legs just to continue to breathe.

Imagine the struggle, the pain, the suffering, the courage. Jesus endured this reality for over 3 hours. Yes, over 3 hours! Can you imagine this kind of suffering?

A few minutes before He died, Jesus stopped bleeding. He was simply pouring water from His wounds. From common images, we see wounds to His hands and feet and even the spear wound to His side...

But do we realize His wounds were actually made in his body. A hammer driving large nails through the wrist, the feet overlapped and an even large nail hammered through the arches, then a Roman guard piercing His side with a spear.

But before the nails and the spear, Jesus was whipped and beaten. The whipping was so severe that it tore the flesh from His body. The beating so horrific that His face was torn and his beard ripped from His face. The crown of thorns cut deeply into His scalp. Most men would not have survived this torture.

He had no more blood to bleed out, only water poured from his wounds. The human adult body contains about 3.5 liters (just less than a gallon) of blood. Jesus poured all 3.5 liters of his blood; He had three nails hammered into His members; a crown of thorns on His head and, beyond that, a Roman soldier who stabbed a spear into His chest.

hammered members crown thorns head roman soldier stabbed spear chest

All these without mentioning the humiliation He passed after carrying His own cross for almost 2 kilometers, while the crowd spat in his face and threw stones (the cross was almost 30 kg of weight, only for its higher part, where His hands were nailed). Jesus had to endure this experience, so that you can have free access to God. so that your sins could be "washed" away. All of them, with no exception! Don't ignore this situation.

JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOU!

Do not believe that He only died for others? (those who go to church or for pastors, bishopes, etc).

He died for you! It is easy to pass jokes and false witness statements, feel no shame because you are worried of what they may think about you. Accept the reality, the truth that:

JESUS IS THE ONLY SALVATION FOR THE WORLD.

God has plans for you.

Matthew 10:32 & 33

"Everyone therefore who acknowledges me before others, I also will acknowledge before My Father in heaven; but whosoever denies Me before others, I also will deny before my Father in heaven. Yes I love God.

He is my source of life and my Savior. He keeps me alive day and night. Without Him, I am nothing, but with him "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13.

No. It's just a story. It may very well be that no such person ever existed, and if he did exist then he was certainly just a man and nothing more.

Also the idea of sacrificing himself to himself to save people from himself is just... bonkers.

Nothing in religion makes any sense at all. Absolutely nothing.

I don't mean to pick this apart, but just to toss it out for consideration. The absolute primary motive Christ went to the cross was in obedience to, and to please, his father. We came in second.

First of all, you can't nail a persons hand through the palms, unless they weigh maybe 20 or 30 pounds. That myth has been proven. Any doctor would tell you, it's impossible. Everything that happened at that time was "embellished" to have you believe Jesus died for the salvation of mankind, NONSENSE ! Jesus was sentenced to death because he was a trouble maker. Even today, you fool with someones economic values and they'll get you, even if they have to have you killed. Ignorance is not "bliss", it's the worst evil on earth

I've faced death and I promise you the thought of someone else's imaginary friend never entered my head. I thought about my family, my unfinished business, my unachieved ambitions, things like that.

Jesus died for all people of the world because he doesn't want anyone to go to Hell when they leave this walk of life.

Jesus knows that everyone won't believe in Him. One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess to God. Just because some people don't believe in Him does not change the fact that He died for all people to keep them from Hell. When people leave this life, they will realize that Jesus is who He says He is which is God revealed in flesh.

You surprise me!... I am not a believer in religion, but I do believe in God. Not necessarily Christian belief of Jesus, but the Almighty Creator. What if Jesus has already returned, and we are the ones left behind?

I believe in Jesus, and you don't. That is your choice. Jesus will judge. Right now he has the role as savior. He is now in the saving business. After this life he will have the role as Judge and will be in the judging business.
