Do you believe all politicians are corrupt?

permial 2010/02/15 04:13:24
Yes, all politicians are self serving and corrupt.
No, I believe everything they tell me to be the unadultarated truth.

We are not supposed to speak ill of the dead. But those whom the deceased viciously smeared and humiliated deserve to be defended. Entrenched Rep. John Murtha passed away on Feb. 8 after a botched gallbladder surgery. He has been hailed as a "military advocate" (Associated Press) and "one of the greatest patriots ever to serve in Congress" (former Rep. Harold Ford Jr.).

These obsequious obituaries leave out inconvenient truths: John "Jack" Murtha was an unrepentant smear merchant and corruptocrat to the bitter end.

In May 2006, during an MSNBC appearance that Marines and their families will never forget or forgive, Murtha accused US troops of wantonly killing some two dozen civilians, including children, in the terrorist stronghold of Haditha, Iraq. Bellowed Murtha: "Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood."

bellowed murtha troops overreacted pressure killed innocent civilians cold blood

There is no such thing as an ex Marine, until now.

John Murtha was a human shitbag, and he is now in Hell, locked in an eternal 69 with another dead shitbag, Teddy Kennedy. Rot in Hell, shitbags.

This is a result of allowing politicians to stay in office for far too long... Murtha probably started out as a good guy, but the " power corrupts " mantra certainly applies to him.... the military railroaded the Lt. Col. commanding the Haditha Marines, as well as his 2 star boss, forcing both to retire, to placate Murtha.

When this country was founded, they wished that those that served would only do so under duress. Then go back to their private lives. The members of the first continental congress only served a maximum of two terms. They had business' to attend to and families to take care of. Career politicians were not even considered at that time. Now we have lawyers that make a career of politics and line their pockets with campaign contributions and kickbacks. This country has been in a sorry state politically since WWI.

I disagree. Murtha dissed my beloved corps. He should have belonged to the North Korean army for all the respect and loyalty he showed his comrades in arms. He is a POS in my opinion. Yes I know about opinions, I write them for other people!

Live politicians are rotten ! Dead politicians are rotting ! I would hate to stand in front of our creator and explain how America got to where it is !

Just what does your creator have to do with this country? Can you stand before your fellow man and explain how we allowed two elections to be stolen by the Shrub? Can we explain the illegal wars that the last administration started? I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I am a retired Marine who is no longer active duty some many tours later. My wife is retired Army and has finished hers after 20 years. I agonize over the loss of yet another generation of young people. You sir, are old enough to know that whatever powers that be, has no inclination nor reason to fix this mess that was started by Reagan.

My apologies for the rant, but it's the creators plan for me (grin).

Rant on ! I personally think that we need to revive the draft. We would find out how necessary these wars really are. Working people are only losing their jobs and their homes. Our military has to risk their lives to defend this crap.

And, might I ask, what branch do you serve in?
  • Matt permial 2010/02/15 05:43:29

When I was 18, they started the draft lottery. I was lucky enough to receive a #325. The Vietnam war was hot and heavy but losing popularity very fast and I was not really anxious to attend that party. If drafted, I would have willingly gone, because questioning our leaders was treasonous back then. It took me several years before I realized that their motives might be somewhat less than pure. I have one child that has been in the military for 18 yrs. and the other is a veteran.

Then you agree with the Israelis. Mandatory service for a minimum of two years. Ncest Pas?
  • Matt permial 2010/02/21 00:51:53

I just believe that if the draft was hanging over people's heads, we wouldn't have so many hawks. If our leaders' children had to serve too, it might affect the way that they vote too !

But out leaders children have never had to serve. Dick Cheney received five(5) deferments during the Vietnam conflict. The page is cheesy, but the facts are true: http://home.att.net/~jrhsc/di...
