From the Obsolete man:

" The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He *was*
obsolete, but so is the State, the entity he worshiped. Any state, any
entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the
rights of man, that state is obsolete."

Considering all that has happened in the past couple of weeks, this quote from the "Twilight Zone" in 1961 was prophetic don't you think?

the whole episode is brilliant and rings so true today and possibly the near future.
If you have happen to have netflix streaming, look it up. It's worth the 25 minutes.

I was told many years ago the Mr. Serling was a conservative. When I watch this and many of his other episodes, it becomes quite obvious that he was very conservative. He attended Antioch University in Yellow Springs, Ohio long before it became an indoctrination center for communism. I've seen every episode of the Twilight Zone and I always liked them best when he used them to make a political statement.

Rod Serling was very prolific and expressed his opinions on the Twilight Zone. In my 7th grade class (I'm a teacher) we read the teleplay "The Monster's are Due on Maple Street" that is a Twilight Zone episode. The kids love it and it has a really great theme of how we are our own worst enemies.

I know, that episode really makes you think. Most of my students would get it but there were always a few jokesters that when I'd ask, "So who were the monsters?" Answer: "The Aliens". Nooooooooooooooooo! I had to also get them to understand "writer's purpose" which in this case was entertainment and expressing an opinion.
