Threatening the President of the United States is a class D felony under United States Code Title 18, Section 871. It consists of knowingly and willfully mailing or otherwise making "any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States". The United States Secret Service investigates suspected violations of this law and monitors those who have a history of threatening the President.

Yes,wheather you agree with his politic's he is the president ,was elected so even if you are unhappy there will be another election,&we; haave laws on the books that does limit
government the people are still themajor movers in the country,we saw that with R Nixon,& Bill Clinton,also saw the TERRIBLE effect John Kenedy's demise had on the country,

It not only is against the law it reflects the character of the person doing the threatening and they have no place in a public forum. In my opinion Sodahead should monitor those kind of remarks, report them to the secret service or FBI, and ban them from this site.

When you threaten another persons life, regardless of who they are, you give up your own right to free speech and should be handled accordingly. People who do this are sick or deranged and should be treated accordingly.

My own opinon is - to threaten ANYoNE is wrong on so many levels and should be reasn to be dumpped and investigated. Politics should have nothing to do with it. And yes, i know it is a law to threaten POTUS, as well it should be. And before anyone complains, refers, asks, etc., I felt the same re: POTUS I liked and those i don't and haven't. i don't particularly care for a lot of the current POTUS, but he is still a human being and the commandment still says - Thou shall not kill - not adding "but only those who agree with me or I agree with, too."

I may not like the President but threatening him isn't the smartest thing to do. Disagree with him and not liking his politics is one thing, threatening him is uncalled for and should be taken seriously.

They should be more than just ban from SH. They need to be reported to the FBI or who ever. This is no joking matter. This is how things like Newtown get started. Just put a bug in someone's ear. And who know what kind of thing could happen. STOP THESE HATE FILLED POSTS! It's one thing to say you don't like him. But to go farther than that....well you may be in some Federal prison.

I will talk crap about any president all day long, but anyone dumb enough to threaten the life of anyone, let alone the President should definately be looked into. They say sarcasm is 50% truth. but you really should use discression on sites like this where people block eachother for having different opinions.

I don't think SH can go around deciding who is joking and who's not, nor is it their responsibility.

That said I think anyone who threatens the life of a president is a complete ass. Did you have the same opinion while Bush was president?

You can if you want to but what those that slip through the cracks.The one that doesn;t make your idea of a threat will most likely be the one.Look at Newtown and all we know of that tragic shooting and do you know who failed to act in that situation?The government is rife with failure and misdirection just look at the Lybia attack that went on for more than seven and a half hours before the HNIC even actted.You won't find your terriost on here and the wild goose chases will be rampant.Heck look at 9 11 and the missed oportunitys in that one.Obie gets more threats than the last ten or more so what are you going to do?:As divided as this country is you'd be no more than a snitch and that you'd carry for life even though you are wrong.

I think that someone who threatens the life of ANY president, should be banned and reportet to the secret service. to threaten the life of anyone on line is a federal crime.

Look Sweet Cheeks, everybody who threatens the life of anybody for any reason should be reported and arrested, because these are the mentally challenged individuals, and the ones who are advertising their mental illness. We can all dislike a president's ideology and policies without making death threats.

I love the hypocrisy of conservatives who dismiss the fact that Obama has received more death threats than any other President in our history, and the only thing that makes any sense as to why is the color of his skin.
