Do Republicans need to do a better job at delivering their message or is it the ideas themselves that have been rejected by the American people?

Their social conservative message needs to be re tailored...plus, at this point they need to pretty much clean house and get new sales reps...at this point even if they came out with a kinder, gentler, more understanding brand, no one would believe a word of it, if it's their old mouth pieces that spew it.

Without any doubt, ideology is the problem.

Both. The Republicans need to get their act together, though. Can't let Obama and his minions ruin America any more than they already have.

It's been the same old thing-by the same old people for a few hundred years, now. At least retire already, and give someone young-with new ideas a chance.

Too many Rhinos and weak minded people in the party. They need to do some house cleaning and move back their base, stick to their principles and stay away from the middle.

See I was thinking they need to come to the middle. So you are saying go much more extreme and to the far-far right?

Here's an idea, look around the world at the different systems take in the drawbacks and benefits and use what works and discard what doesn't.

The left and right con would disappear and many of it's mouthpieces would be quite rightly out of work.

The reason they don't? Because they are happy with a system that works for them, why would they change because of useless eaters?

Religion and abortion is a personal matter and choice and should not be part of the Politics ---this alienates a vast majority of persons who do not want someone else telling them what to believe or how to live their life----

Both, really. There are elements of the message that are favored by most Americans, specifically the smaller government/fiscal responsibility part, and that part needs to be more and better emphasized, but the social aspect, while heavily favored by some Americans, is generally either not favored or not particularly important to a majority of Americans.

The ideas themselves are woefully dated and totally out of touch with today's society and frankly with the world as a whole.

By far the message needs to be changed, not the idea.

A few details in the idea need work, and execution of the idea when in power needs help too.

But fiscal responsibility in government? Looking forward as far as making government and its programs solvent for future generations? Those aren't bad ideas or messages. Its unfortunate that in recent years those ideas haven't seen solid execution.

Clearly the GOP didn't have an issue in 2010. Just two years ago the Party was riding high and sweeping into more power. So all the talk about the party or its platforms being dead is a bit of either posturing or nonsense. Just the same as when Bush won in 2004 and gained more power in Congress then Democrats weren't dead or dying.

The bottom line, as I've been saying and as the great Krauthammer points out, the problem is mostly with tactics. In the past few years there's a vocal minority segment that has no tact and helps prop up bad candidates. The Senate, while still being in Democrat hands technically, could have a 4 man swing if Mourdock, Akin, Angle and O'Donnell hadn't been nominated. Those seats were all ready to fall to the GOP, but bad tactics (not ideas) flubbed them. Thats two seats away from total Congressional control.

Messaging is what killed the party this ...

Those seats were all ready to fall to the GOP, but bad tactics (not ideas) flubbed them. Thats two seats away from total Congressional control.

Messaging is what killed the party this year. Obama seized on Bush tactics to find wedge issues, to campaign toward broken up pieces of the electorate rather than running on his own record and plans for a new terms. The fictional "War on Women" and how evil rich people are lead the way - not AHA or some mythic second term piece of legislation. And again tactically that campaigning was fed by two bad candidates (Mourdock and Akin) and a taken out of context private conversation by Romney. Plus rules as far as spending go helped. Obama got to spend money in battleground states on mudslinging before the conventions while Romney had to wait for an official nomination to use the GOP nominee funds.

We're still a very clearly divided nation - not a nation swinging strongly one way. The GOP needs work in two areas: gay marriage and immigration. Thanks to the like of McCain and Rubio joining with Democrats to put together a bill ahead of Obama on immigration we're starting to see one of those turnarounds. And at some point the nation will ignore the scare tactics and mudslinging on social issues from the left and they will want a fiscally responsible and forward thinking government.

I predict that in 2014 the GOP takes more seats in Congress and in 2016 Rubio defeats Biden.

Rubio? Child of fake Cuban exiles? He is nothing but an anchor baby! His grandfather was deported for being a creep a drunk and and all time pervert. He did all this for political gain. Telling some bull crap story to pluck at the heart strings of brown people. The guy is a clown!

Yeah, enjoy trying that one out. The hispanic community will take kindly to calling him an anchor baby and holding him responsible for whatever you claim his grandpa did. That should work well.

I mean, don't I remember segments of the right trying to tie Obama down to his pastor or his father or whatever?

    Good luck with that.

They do get their agenda out and that is why they always end up in last place. They are all for rich old men. Look around there are more women and middle class people-plus the minorities, which are no longer minor in the population. Thus, republicans are falling behind every time.
