Again: "the right of the people to keep and BEAR arms shall not be infringed." No exceptions listed about WHERE you have a right to bear arms. Thomas Jefferson wrote this in a letter to his 15-year old nephew: "Let your gun be the constant companion of your walks," and Jefferson attributed the victory at Bunker Hill "to our superiority in taking aim when we fire; every soldier in our army having been intimate with his gun from infancy."
Using a public school (funded with tax dollars) as a place to hold a bible study group (attended by a subset of tax PAYERS) in no way establishes a National Religion for the United States of America.
Does CONGRESS hold a bake sale or something? Exactly where do 535 Congressmen get the cash to fund the US Public School system?
Clearly a violation? "Congress shall make no law respecting an ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION" What LAW is Congress making? Christians use the school one day per week, Jews use it another, Muslims, etc. The only thing being violated here is the American citizen's freedom to use a public building that they PAY for.
You're quoting Hugo Lafayette Black? The anti-Catholic KKK member??
NONE of these court cases have ANYTHING to do with the US Government establishing a national religion. They were brought before the court by hateful liberals with zero-tolerance for religion who got their panties in a bunch over some asinine, meaningless issues.
So good, tax-paying citizens lost their freedom because the liberals sicked the over-reaching Federal government on them. You're kinda making my point FOR ME.
The 2nd amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791. Neither of these organizations EXISTED back then. In 1791 the "well-regulated militia" consisted of able-bodied, ORDINARY CITIZENS.
The militia clause was a declaration of PURPOSE. Making sure that ORDINARY CITIZENS had the right to keep and bear arms was the method the original framers chose to ensure the continuation of a well-regulated militia. Nowhere in the amendment, or ANY of the corresponding documents is there any indication that active militia membership was a prerequisite.
You can quote these idiot SCOTUS judges twisting the intent of the original authors until you're blue in the face. Taking into consideration 18th century laws and customs, and the words the Founders used: "the right of the PEOPLE...." - it is clear that it was meant to guarantee an individual right for a collective purpose.
"The words "hateful liberal" are an oxymoronic contradiction in terms." This is so idiotic that it it doesn't DESERVE a response.
"The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard."
So all guys 17-45 and women if they're in the National Guard. I guess that means you. Here's a hint if they ever call you up: the bullet comes out of the skinny end of the rifle.
A DEFINITION of the word "liberal"? Are you for real? I've been on this board since 2009 and spend most of my time in News & Politics. I've seen so many hateful liberals AND conservatives that it's a wonder they don't arrange meetings and kill each other.
When the 2nd amendment was penned.... the "National Guard" was EVERYONE - What part of that fact are you having trouble with?
There was no "National Guard" that people enlisted in. When the threat was over, they went back to their homes and farms and took their weapons home with them because the Constitution said they ALL had the right to own them. No stipulation that they be a part of an ACTIVE militia group can be found ANYWHERE. And no change in the definition of "National Guard" that has occurred SINCE then alters the INTENT of the founders.
Why is that so difficult for you to grasp? The best anti-gun legal minds in the country have tried for decades to prove this point you're trying to make. It can't be done because it's a fallacy.
I just wonder how anyone with a shred of intelligence would think that the founders wanted to outlaw weapons for common citizens. Colonists had been fighting the Indians, Dutch, Spanish, French and finally the English during the 170 years since the Mayflower landed. The Chickamauga Wars started during the revolution and were STILL going on while the ammendment was on the table. And MANY documents have been found showing the founders' aversion to fielding a standing army. Hunting game was part of everyday life in America and 12-year old boys would commonly carry rifles and provide much of their family's food.
Live is too short to keep beating this dead horse. Good day.
That's oppression!
So you basically want people to pay for others that don't have the money, and pay for themselves too?
I've seen a doctor twice since 2004, and the last time I saw one was March 2008 for what ultimately turned out to be 5 kidney stones in my left kidney, one the size of a US Nickel according to the MRI I paid for out of my own pocket.
With no insurance, I turned to prayer for how to get rid of the stones and how to prevent them. God led me through the internet to lemon juice to dissolve the stones. I tried it and it worked. I feel better - the best I've felt in 20 yrs, and I didn't have to fork out 15,000 dollars for a laser to zap the stones, which sometimes doesn't work.
What's saddest about all this is that many people with kidney stones told me that their doctor told them the lemon juice wouldn't work. Many patients rebelled, tried the juice anyway, and it worked. I feel good for those had took the leap of faith against their doctor's advice - I feel bad for those felt helpless against their doctor, and are still suffering from kidney stones today because their doctor told them not to do lemon juice.
I don't want Obama and his Progressive Liberals telling people what to do. Obama-care forces people to go with the doctor for health problems, and to my knowledge Obama-care leaves no room for easy, affordable cures like prayer and lemon juice.
