Romney, as governor of MA, the bluest of the blue states at the time, managed to not only BALANCE THE BUDGET, but also did it WITHOUT RAISING TAXES. See:

http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/mitt-romney-as-governor...

Whereas, Obama, as president managed to... oh well, at least he looked cool on the Jimmy Fallon Show.

Only in the minds of the rt wing nutbags do liberals prefer style over substance. And speaking of style over substance what better example of that is there than Romney who's done nothing to offer any plan to fix the economy or create jobs or for the foreign policy but looks like a Ken doll?

You mean the same way conservatives have flocked to Palin despite her lack of qualifications? The only things that had to be done were marketing her as the hockey and coaching her to wink after saying something idiotic.

The case can be made for both sides so I don't know why you are only choosing to point out liberals.

Take Bush and Palin as two examples of style (cowboy) and Palin (looks) over brains and common sense.

Similarly most conservatives and most people prefer style over substance - I won't bother to litigate Romney vs Obama here and in my view Obama wins both the style and substance question but regardless, people in general like 'style' because it takes no intellectual muscle to make that decision - it just happens. Substance requires the use of the brain muscle and that can hurt.

I would include this observation to the both Lib/Cons, as most of them vote from perspectives that are half cooked and poorly formed with regard to actual cause and effect policies.

Because a lot of non-liberals who voted for Obama and they were caught into his rhetoric and so forth at the time. These same people later regretted their choice. I think humans just have that tendency to go for style over substance.
BTW, I'm not a liberal and I didn't vote for him, but this is my observation.

Democrats are superficial. All they can see is what is right in front of their face. They have no comprehension of consequences or long term ramifications. Your skin color is more important than the content of your character to them. Kind of ironic.
  • Ricardo... Izariel 2012/04/30 00:03:01
    RicardoCabeza
Okay, I like the attention to long term ramifications, but in policy Mr. Obama is nothing more than a mirror image of G.W. policies and perspectives. his economists are of the same school of theory, and his Treasury Secretary is of the same perspective as the G. Dubya admin... Mr. Obama is the same guy that G.W. was... True irony would be the acknowledgement that the Cons and Libs use a very superficial criterion to choose there candidates who in fact have little policy difference between them.

No, they simply dare not mention the real substance of their ideology in public lest they never win an American election again. Thus, the Left is driven by necessity to be just a facade.

As Ann Coulter rightly pointed out:

"To act as if Obamacare is the same thing as "Romneycare" is just a word game, on the order of acting like a "gun" has the same properties as a "gunny sack," or "fire" is the same thing as a "firefly."

Romney supported the idea of other states doing something along the lines of his health care bill, but always opposed insurance mandates from the federal government (just as I oppose the federal government issuing general laws about rape, but support state laws against rape.)"
  • Ricardo... tncdel 2012/04/30 00:07:04
    RicardoCabeza
The States may not usurp the rights of the citizen, Obamney care did just that and for the matter there is litlle difference between Romney, Mr. Bush and Mr. Obama when one considers their actual policies, their difference could be equated to the effect of changing the curtains in a house...

Not at all! We prefer substance, economic recovery, intelligent leadership, and integrity! Style and charisma are a bonus! Sorry if you had such bad primary choices, that running against intelligence, integrity, and style is a little scary with Romney as your candidate. But it's not too late to support the candidate that has it all! President Obama style

Where is the intelligent leadership? Obama is out of ideas, if he ever had any in the first place...He has ZERO integrity. He has lied so often while president he cant even tell anymore. I think he is starting to beleive his own lies. There is no economic recovery. GDP growth has been anemic ever since Obummer took office. Come out of the cave you are hiding in and look up something for yourself. I promise, it wont hurt.

You are misinformed on so many levels, but rather than calling our nation's President names lets look at some of the economic indicators that rightwing media are distorting to confuse you. I hope you remember that the economy crashed in 2008 before this President took office? Go to these official sites and put in dates to graph each indicator over time. On the first 3 pages you are able to chart over many decades and see some very interesting changes over time.

Most liberals, conservatives, moderates, whatever. Think about it:

    John Kennedy over Richard Nixon
    Ronald Reagan over Jimmy Carter
    Ronald Reagan over Walter Mondale
Bill Clinton over George H. W. Bush
    Bill Clinton over Bob Dole
George W. Bush over Al Gore
George W. Bush over Jon Carry*
    Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton

We elects presidents like we pick favorite movie stars.

    George Clooney or Marco Rubio?
    Brad Pitt or Paul Ryan
    Angelina Jolie or Michelle Bachmann
    Beyonce or Condie Rice

It is the conservatives in the GOP that like style over substance. A parade of clowns had the lead with Bachmann first, then Trump, then Perry, then Cain. The nominee is also a clown that constantly lies and changes positions as much as his magic underwear. The other Mormon candidate that has a great record of lowering taxes, balancing the budget making his state the best for business according to Forbes never got above 2% in Jon Huntsman. Serving his country as Obama's ambassador to China, believing gays should have equal rights disqualified him from contention in the far right hating all others conservative America.

Maybe it's just me but it's the substance of what a candidate says and more importantly what he/she does. When Romney was Governor of Massachusetts he forced gas stations to fund an account for the purpose of cleaning up storage container leaks. When the account was fully funded, he raided the fund, took the money and put it in the general account to be used for other purposes. The says one thing and does another. Don't trust him.

liberals do not recognize substance. They are like spoiled children and are turned off by anyone that shows maturity and authority. They elected an incompetent fool to do a job that was way over his head. Maybe it's not obama's fault at all, maybe it's the fault of the idiots that voted for him.
