Did you ever wonder whether liberals are more likely to block than moderates or conservatives when someone disagrees with them?

Well, wonder no more. According to a Pew Research Center tracking survey, liberals are about twice as likely to block or unfriend someone for disagreeing with them, as compared with moderates or conservatives on social networking sites.

My favorite way to get blocked is to slam a liberal with a fox news reference. The Marxist will spew the fallacy of shooting the messenger. But instead of identifying the fallacy I will slam them with a reference from Obama, MSN, or the Huffington post saying the same thing as Fox did.

I have been blocked many times for that move. It really frustrate a Liberal. It is a double slam on the Liberal. Especially using an Obama White House reference.

Interesting. Though, honestly I've never been blocked by a Liberal even after disagreeing with them.

I don't support the party system or identify myself as conservative/liberal, I am an American who supports the constitution and it's intent. That being said people who identify themselfs as liberals definitly block more.....and Christians.

I've never blocked a soul here. I have, however, denied freind requests due to underage and just plain knowing we will never discuss a thing here.

My top SH's are mainly who I speak to, and that list changes from time to time.

No, I need to converse with someone who has a command of the English language. Your sentence is moronic. Using made-up words on cartoons doesn't help your perceived IQ either. Go back to school, and re-take the English Composition class that you flunked. Then take a course on debating. (You'll thank me later).

Anytime you bring facts and figures from unbiased sources, you get blocked. Liberals can't stand the truth is it isn't the truth as they see it.

I'm a Conservative and I block people who insult me or use foul language. I've blocked both Liberals and Conservatives; I don't discriminate. I NEVER block because of an opposing opinion because that's what this site is about.............opinions!

But I HAVE been blocked by people who I thought were 'friends', because they didn't agree with my comment. That actually hurt. But that's the way it is...

You don't have to block people to avoid profanity. You can set your profile to filter profanity. That is what I do.

That's right, I forgot. But I'd still know that under that redacted word they said something nasty.

I've been wondering..........do these people act like this at home? I mean, if someone's mother says "Shut the door, we don't live in a barn." ........would they say "Shut up you *(&)&$$@ and($&*%!"

It's not just the word that is erases. You can't read any part of their reply. You just get the message "profanity filter activated."

You know, as crazy as this sounds, when I reply to someone that I can't read what they wrote because of my profanity filter, they usually, rephrase what they wrote, so that I can read it, and the conversation is very nice--even if we disagree with each other.

But I miss a lot of conversations because of my profanity filter. I know I do. I just don't care. I don't want my feelings to get hurt.

It turns off accidently, anytime you change something on your profile, and you have to reset it. I hope it makes it a little easier on you. I should let you know that some people spell profanity creatively, to circumvent your filter. So you have to decide how you will handle that. And my standard of profanity is higher than SHs, so I am always suprised about what goes through even when mine is on. But it helps somewhat. I can read through answers and see my profanity activation blocking some answers.

I've got a pretty thick hide, but I feel no reason to have to deal with profanity. We are human beings, here. We have feelings.

That's the point totally! I've heard every word every profane spoken word and I've said a few but I can give my opinion without being insulting!

Sometimes I say something insulting to people, and I feel badly about it. I try to insult their argument, without insulting them, but every once in awhile I write something and hit submit and if I would have just waited another ten seconds I would have worded it differently.

I usually deal with people's insults, because I know how easy it is to sometimes let a cruel thing come out of the keyboard. I assume they wouldn't have said the same thing if they were looking into my face, and could touch me and see that I was a living human being with real feelings, just like them.

But profanity is easy to avoid, and it is just one less thing to deal with.

I don't mind being called stupid, but being called an "it" hurts my feelings. Isn't that crazy? Two liberals will be talking to each other about me, and instead of writing, "that stupid witch", or "that idiot", they say "it"--and of course my profanity filter can't block out the "it" word. :)

    That's a standard ploy.

It's best not to let it get under your skin.

Indeed if they resort to stuff like that, it means they're losing the argument.

I know that. I understand the mechanism behind it, but it still hurts my feelings. I don't mind "stupid", and I'm getting used to "bigot" and "hater". And even though I'm very prideful and I hate being called "ugly"--I would rather be called "ugly" than "it"
