Do guns kill people?

Some of that isn't too bad. The mental health assessment is the trickiest part though. It would be great, and I would support it were it not for how subtle most of these problems can be. And I don't like registration of guns because you don't have to register any other property, and it does almost nothing to aid in fighting gun crime. But I do like the punishment and outlawing of explosives, assuming fireworks aren't involved in that.

I hate fireworks. Residual effects of PTSD. I don't mind them at the ball-game when a Cardinal hits a homerun; but otherwise, I hate them. That said, no I wasn't including them in this. I probably would have another law regarding private citizens using them, though. Especially in a summer as dry as this one. But that law would not be connected to the gun laws.
You do have to register your car. If you own land or a house, those have to be registered. Some machinery too. The registration is to make sure that you only have weapons for which YOU are licensed, and so that IF a crime is committed, the weapon can be traced back to it's owner. That won't necessarily crack the case, but it is often an imporant piece of the puzzle.

You are right on registration of property, it was a laziness on my part. I meant most properties, especially of the sizes of guns. And yes, in a shooting it can be an important puzzle piece. But a vast majority of gun crimes are committed with stolen guns.

Another reason why making guns altogether illegal; would cut down on the number of guns in the hands of criminals.
You're right about that, but if you can find the original owner, and when and from where the gun disappeared, that can help in the solving of the crime too.
I would also put in place a law which requires anyone posessing a gun, to account for it at least 4 times a year, and report it immediately if stolen; making it a misdemenor with a stiff fine if they don't.

A little extreme, the latter part. How can you justify the registration of a gun and not other weapons though?

I could camp out on a building and shoot people walking on the street with a crossbow as easily as James Holmes walked into the theater and shot the people in there. I could also walk around garroting random people in alleyways. Same with knives.

This is a reasonable point. but we have to be realistic. Knives have many purposes, which have nothing to do with killing people. To include them in this, you might as well include everything from hammers, to windows. After all, you can break a window and stab someone with the glass.
I do think bows of every kind should be licensed. but again, It's just not a fight that can be won right now.

A gun is an inanimate object and only becomes alive when somebody uses it. I've had guns my whole adult life, and the only thing I've pointed them at is paper targets at the shooting range. It's a hobby that my wife and I enjoy, and I hope I never see a person at the end of the barrel, that is not why I own them.

Do you think Lebron could play as well if he had to wear cowboy boots? The equipment we use for anything, makes us more profficient. A gun makes a killer more profficient. Guns are why the body count was double-digets in Aurora.

So if I put running shoes on a man wheelchair bound he would be able to get up and run? I could have killed and injured as many with a sword or machete. I could have killed them all with a bomb. The man did the killing. The athlete is an athlete regardless of what footwear he might be wearing.

Look, GUNS to not kill people it's the lunatic holding the gun who CHOOSES to kill people. A vehicle can be a "deadly" weapon IF an INSANE person CHOOSES to drive their vehicle into a crowd pf people at full speed for their method of choice to cause death....shall we BAN all vehicles, or just the vehicle that the INSANE person happen to choose that day to KILL?? An INSANE person can find any means to KILL with every day products us SANE people use daily..shall we ban EVERYTHING in America that could/maybe/sorta/might cause harm to others because an INSANE person used such things to cause death to others?? You liberals are nuts like Mayor Bloomberg of NYC..thinking he's correct on banning soda, transfat, cigarette smoking in his state..THINKING it will fight obesity??? While NOT having a clue that this man is basically a DICTATOR of NYC telling people how HE WANT'S "his people" of "his city" to live??? If you can use absurdities, so can I: Why not nuclear bombs, then? Why not allow some of our nuclear bombs to be sold? We could reduce the deficite, and we don't need nearly as many as we have. Clearly, anyone can kill anyone and no reasonable person would put any restrictions on weapons, so why don't we put some of our nations nuclear arsenal on the market?

The USA has nuclear weapons as a means to for us to be a PEACEFUL COUNTRY, having weapons to DEFEND and PROTECT OUR country as well as OUR ALLIES, against those HOSTILE regimes who WANT to DEVELOP AND USE their nuclear weapons for the sole purpose of using their nuclear weapons to KILL those who DISAGREE with their radical beliefs!! The United States of America DOES NOT acquire weaponry to KILL AND DESTROY...the United States of America builds up our weaponry to DEFEND AND PROTECT our country as well as those countries being run by dictators who WILL kill their citizens IF they disagree with their regime. Sadly, the Obama Administration is doing NOTHING to defend the innocent in Syria who are being tortured by "their" government!! Where is George Clooney right now?? My husband and I live week to week raising our family, and it breaks my heart about what's going on in Syria and not having the money to do something about it!!! Jackie, I'm a soldier. If we attack Syria, my friends and I are the ones who will go. We will be the ones who die, in order to upend a regime which will be replaced by another who will do the same things. It's easy to talk tough about evil regimes who harm their own, when it isn't YOU who will be fighting them.
We were justified to attack Afghanistan. Those who attacked us came from there, and we had the right to go get them. That was a cause I was willing to kill or die for. But just to topple one dictator who will be replaced by another; doesn't seem like a productive use of the lives it will cost to do it.
You Conservatives seem to think that by virtue of us BEING the United States, we have the right to run the whole world. We don't. We have power over our own country, and whatever influence our leaders have outside. but we do NOT have the right to dictate to countries who have not elected our leaders, or raised our flag.

Corporations are inanimate things.. Objects..The POINT that was being made,, or qwas ATTEMPTED to be made,, is that Corporations are COMPRISED of people.. You can't TAX an inanimate thing.. When you Tax a Corporation you are taxing the PEOPLE associated with that corporation.. When you DENY the Freedom of Expression to a Corporation ( such as is the case with political donations ) you deny that expression to the PEOPLE that make up that Corporation..

It's like a Church.. You CAN'T deny Freedom of Religion to a BUILDING.. When you deny this freedom you deny it to the people who make UP the church..

By themselves, guns are inanimate objects incapable of action. It is people that kill people.

But if guns were eliminated (impossible in our society anyway), the CRAZIES in our society would use bombs and poisions, and the result would be EXACTLY THE SAME!

ACTUAL Gun control has been acheived only a couple times in the past - Stalin, Hitler both acheived it - GREAT RESULTS!

It all depends on what the person did to the gun to make it angry.
