Both. Guns do not kill by themselves. People can kill without guns, but guns makes death a much more likely result. Most people killed by guns would be alive today if the killer had not had a gun.

the number of shootings may be the same if the victim was armed.

it would change who got shot, some of the criminals would have holes in them and not the victims...

You will never see a gun sprout legs and go out on its own looking for someone to kill. Of course, the answer is people. And if those who want to kill don't have guns, they will find some other way.

As I understand it, Canada also recognizes that guns (which are designed to kill) should be provided to folks that demonstrate a basic competency and clear a security check, a policy which I (as a gun owner) whole heartedly agree.

A possession-acquisition, or possession-only, licence (PAL/POL) is distributed exclusively by the RCMP and is generally obtained in the following three steps:

1) Safety training: To be eligible to receive a PAL, all applicants must successfully complete the Canadian Firearms Safety Course

2) Applying for a licence: Currently only one type of licence is available to new applicants, the possession-acquisition licence (PAL).

3) Security screening: Background checks and investigations are performed. All applicants are screened, and a mandatory 28-day waiting period is imposed on first-time applicants, but response time may be longer.

It takes the person to pick the gun up and hill someone . My guns are in the closet haven't heard them go off yet .

A gun is a tool.. like a machete, hammer, box cutter, chainsaw... etc.. BTW, those tools can kill people just as dead as a bullet.

Guns are merely a machine. A machine that reduces effort. It is amoral. It performs only under the direction or misdirection of the handler.

It's always the person unless there's a accident and the accident percentage is very low.

Even in an accident, it is the result of improper handling. If one is killed by a gun, it is because the person directed or misdirect the gun. A mechanic defect does not remove responsibility from the person.

People with guns kill.People with guns can kill much easier,as apposed to ones that have no weapons.

As do people with automobiles or any other machines.

Car drivers rarely have an intent to kill others with their automobiles.Other things like knives,bats,etc. have other uses such as cutting bread,or hitting a baseball.Guns have only one intended use.

Apparently you are not familiar with road rage or vehicular homicide. Guns have entertainment value as well. I've spent numerous hours with friends on the rifle and pistol ranges. In Switzerland, it is a national pastime.

Intent is determined by the user, not the tool.

I have heard of road rage and as I stated in an earlier post I noted rarely one uses a car with intent to kill,but it does happen.I agree also that guns can be used for the purpose of going to a pistol range.I do not know if a large part of the population goes to the pistol range.

In spite of all the drivebys, Cars are still the biggest killer by far.

Approximately 300,000 people in the U.S. Go to a pistol range and several million shoot Skeet and rifle targets a well and even more hunt to eat.
The only thing sublime about you is your stupidity.

If that be the case that is my resposiblity.I am not saying that people should not own guns.Hunting animals and skeet shooting is one thing,but killing another is a different matter.

I am confused how do guns kill? If a person dosen't touch it it sits there.

Let's see. If I was so inclined, I could kill someone with my truck, a 3lb hammer on my workbench, the meat cleaver in the kitchen drawer. That and the baseball bat in my closet. To say that guns kill people is a pretty stupid statement to begin with and it is even a bigger indictment of that person's intelligence that believes it. In the heat of the moment any thing can be a weapon' "It is a hard heart that kills"!

People do! Guns are simply the preferred tool to do so. Guns are made to launch a damaging projectile at it's target. People choose the target.

People do - guns just make it real easy. Do hammers drive nails, or do people? I have never seen a hammer drive a nail into a piece of wood without a human holding the handle. Much like the hammer, the hand gun has one very specific purpose. While the hammer is made for the purpose of driving nails, the hand gun is made to kill human beings.

I was trained in gun safety at about age 6 by my uncle. A gun is just a tool like any other. If someone wants someone dead there are many ways to accomplish that other than using a gun.
