It seems to me like the majority of conservatives want this country to go back to a time where :
Civil rights were only for certain people.
Gays stayed in the closet.
Schools put back corporal physical punishment, and read the Bible everyday.
Illegals working for pennies and being quite about being illegals.
No Liberal Democrats around.
A majority conservative thinking government in power from both Party's. ( preferably white )

I call this the Fascist 50's.....
So is this the truth?

Hey I lived in the 50's. I lived on a farm. Had plenty to eat and clothes to wear. My dad did not have a car. He made his own syrup, milked his own cows, Made his own butter and cheese. grind his own corn. Planted his own crops and harvested them. I was married in the 50's. Raised five children. My husband was a machanic. Went through the gas wars in Ca.It wasn't because there were no gas. Their ships just were not allowed ashore. There were long lines of people in line to buy gas. Many times they came and stayed all night. Welfare was for the very poor or severely disabled. Somes times we had Health Insurance and sometimes didn't. People did not go to the Dr. every time they had a problem. We knew how to Dr our selves for most problems.

Evidently you know nothing about the country or farming. We had The radio, Newspaper, Schools and other types of learning. We were not stupid. Most city people came from the country and small towns. We read books and magazines. Some are good spellers, some were not. But you find that in other places. I have been in 4o states. I lived in California a lot of years in the Orange County Area. I have been from the East Coast to the West Coast. From New York to California. So your point is? What have you done with your life? Interested to know, Maybe you can tell me something I do not know.

I toured all over America and Europe dozens of times with professional black blues bands lady. I am a professional guitarist. I seen the things you will never want to see..you know nothing....absolutely nothing about how it was for blacks and Hispanics in the 50's and 60's....But in Europe they had no racism with black Americans...white people there loved them and respected them...I have freedom in today's America then back in the Good old boy's racist white run 50's club.

The America of the 1950's ate Fascists for breakfast and spit them out at noon. How twisted and ludicrous to assume the society that defended freedom in Europe and the Far East and was struggling to throw off its racial apartheid in those years was anything resembling Mussolini's Fascism. Obama's policy's are not bad. I think they are very good and a big move forward....and all I said was you guys axed your black candidates which is true......sure conservatives have black friends...and I think that's great...but the majority of them are not comfortable with a black man in the white house no matter who party they are from and that's not because of hate...it's in most of their blood for the stereo views about blacks...It would be great to see an Hispanic in the W H someday too...and that will happen but not from the conservative GOP,,,it will happen because of the Liberal side of the Democrat party. Heck the Liberal side of the Democrat party will also be the first to put a women in the W.H. ...that's another thing the right is not to keen on and again not because of hate...look at what happen with Palin... :)

I live in a all white county and those surrounding my county and these countries are all white. But you know Obama carried all these counties. So your post does not hold water. There are Jews, Mexican, Indian and others. racism exists so get use to it. I am not saying it is right but that is just how it is. Racism causes most wars My own kids, some of them voted for Obama. I don't have to get use to racism...that's a conservative thing...I don't tolerated it....and abortion is not killing a baby...tell you what...you get a birth certificate for all fetus' and a death certificate for the ones removed...then you might have a point....

I don't vote Republican because they are not for equal rights...they only want the Christian faith and no other religions...they don't want gay life styles and they are unfair to women's sexual matters when it comes to insurance coverage...but they will cover sexual things for men with insurance ...and the GOP is only for the 1%conservative elitists rich and Corporates...So I guess we have our reasons....

I guess I should have specified that it's the old racial and class hatreds from a past century that Manny's always trying to reheat like leftovers that most people are done with. We have newer hatreds and issues on our plate today that leftists are reluctant to deal with since many of them are the result of their own screwups. That would explain Manny's constant obsession with the past.

My husband is 7/8's Indian. So we know about racism. You do not have to be white to be racist. His three brothers served in World War 2. All survived. But were wounded. We have every race in America. They are Americans no matter what race they are. Hate will always be here of one kind or another until the end of Time. Everyone wants to think they are better than others. Everyone eats, sleeps and goes to The Bathroom. So one race is as good as another. You can't make people do what you want.

I never did hear my dad refer to Blacks with racism. He raised 10 kids and did not have time to be racist. In fact I never saw a Black person till I was a teenager and went to St. Louis. My sisters and brothers all worked in St. Louis and never had time to be racist. The way you talk about the whites, you also are a racist. Yes , there are still people who are racist and I am afraid there always will be unfortunately.

I am not a racist...just because I am telling the truth about how racism started doesn't make me a racist...and I don't remember saying every single conservative is a racist...but what I will say when it comes to holding the highest office in the country...many white conservatives are not comfortable with a black man in that position and not because of pure hate ...but some do hate it because of that...let me put it another way...how many white conservatives do you think actually voted for Obama? But I know the majority of every white liberal did...

The 1950s were merely a quiet transition between a catastrophic war and the post modern cultural upheaval of the 1960s when most Americans were still rooted in traditional values handed down from the 19th century. The Americans of the Saturday Evening Post era may not have been angels but they were far from anything resembling Fascism in spite of Manny's lame attempts at revisionist history.

Blacks and Hispanics are the ones who don't care that their children are career criminals and killing each other. They're the ones profiting off of Rap music and drugs. The left has help by the countless thousands of poor kids get into colleges...gave families welfare for support and many families because of that help got on their feet...

The left have developed many programs that helped many poor devolve skills for decent jobs that they could have never got with out this help....
The left fought for better housing and got slum lords who are majority white to fix their buildings etc. And the slums lords played game with that...but then they really learned how to rip off the Government with phony repair bills...good god what scams...But here's the deal in the 50's...

Ghetto were created totally by mostly majority whites that owned the properties because they would never do any maintenance on those proprieties forever...that's why those hoods are so run down..I remember as a kid seeing grown up gangs of whites would just throw a black or Hispanic family into the streets if they complained about the heater or toilet was not working...etc...or the roof was leaking...etc...what ever the complaint was back in the 50's they sent a mob of whites over to that property and threw them out literally...and cops did nothing about it... You do realize that Motown a black owned record company turned down Run DMC...because they didn't like the image they produced for young blacks to listen to and see...But.a white Company picked them up. The same company that produced Arrow-smith...because they knew they could exploit them in the black communities who would buy those so called Go Go rap records and make a fortune...You know SS...I am not against you or hate you....but I do want you to know some of this truth...

That's what you don't get.lol...I was totally honest...because of what was done back then...today many of these housing projects are kept up with repairs and heated in winters...many of the properties are cleaned on a daily basis. The only problems is the drugs and prostitution still lingers on... And lots of run down places were torn down and new housing buildings for the poor were put up...like I said...what happened in the past brought on these changes by Liberals fighting for poor peoples rights... if the 60's never happened...all those old run down white owned ghettos would have never gotten tore down and rebuild...so you are once again wrong...very wrong...
