You point out exactly how it ONCE was Stix. I too remember a time when following an election, the country moved on. You didn't see the continuing vitrol, nastiness, disrespect or out and out hatred we have seen since this election. I voted for Gore in 2000 and was unhappy to say the least when the courts gave the job to Bush, but it wasn't until '03 when the Texas Turd took us to an unconstitutional, illegal, pre-emptive war that I no longer held any respect or desire to give him the least bit of Quarter....and then it only got worse. But at least I gave him some time. Not so with the Right. Go figure.

You are 100% correct. I dislike Bush with a passion but I would never stand in a room with him and call him names. I have protested Bush and his lying policies to get us into war as well as the numerous illegal things he's done, but There is a time and place for everything, unfortunately these lying repuke's no longer care about truth and honesty..No wonder so many of the older republicans now vote for the democratic party.

Nancy Regan "From the old republican party" has said there was a time politicians would argue till blue in the face in the senated but were respectful when it was appropriate, then later had dinner together as friends. She was saddened by her parties behavior..

It is disrespectful to the office and this bad behavior is considered cute by the right wingers because they no longer have any class.

Totally agree with you Stix. What Nancy says is absolutely true. Tip O'Neil, the late great Speaker of the House during the 50's and into the 60's wrote about how they did the very thing she said. "We would argue, shake our fingers, get into each other's faces in committee rooms but at the end of the day, meet in the House Lounge and over a martini (or two), would compromise and come to the conclusion of what was best for the country.

Disrespect anytime does not make for meaningful, substative discussions. What I feel now is total hysteria and the fear that this new young President just might succeed where their Party in the recent past so completely failed.

A federal judge in California today listened to government lawyers argue that a lawsuit over President Obama's eligibility should be immediately dismissed but refused to grant their request, saying he would make his decision and announce it later.

The result came this morning from U.S. District Judge David Carter, who already has set a tentative trial date for the dispute Jan. 26, 2010. The judge also already had lawyers draw up a tentative schedule for hearings and deadlines in preparation for the trial.
