Do Atheists Hate Religion?

I don't know, because I am not one and haven't asked any. My guess is they dont, they have just decided it isn't for them. I certainly don't hate other religions or atheism. Religion is something that has to come from within. Either it is right for you, or it isn't.

How can a person hate something they don't believe in? They can however hate religious persons that persicute them for being non-believers

Some do, but I know there are some reasonable ones who, like most Christians, quietly live their lives with their beliefs.

I guess some might, but I'm answering this on a personal level. I am an agnostic who functions like an atheist (I don't believe it can be proved any way, but I do live regarding the assumption that no gods exist). I, personally, hate what is done in the name of religion by fanatics. I have lots of religious friends and I respect their beliefs and I do acknowledge what good religion has done to the world along with the evil. But I hate it when someone starts forcing their beliefs on people who don't believe, I hate it when they try to enforce their morals that should not affect people who don't believe, I hate a lot of passages in the holy books that people consider so good which treat things we see as objectively wrong as okay (for example, the Bible allows slavery), I hate that people think they have to reject science and the scientific method in order to believe in their God (you don't-- if your religion is correct, it will agree with science), but a lot of religious people don't do any of these things which is why I can't hate religion itself.

I don't hate religion; in fact, I've learned a lot about life from religion.

Really "strong" atheists sometimes hate organized religion but religion itself not often.

As a atheist, I can speak only for myself. I do not hate religion, but I believe that fundamentalists of any stripe, Jewish, Muslim, Christian, are misguided and dangerous.

I find it interesting...When I tell people I go to church, they automatically tell me why they don't go (bad experience, bad pastor, traffic). It's just I never asked these individuals; they just feel the need to tell me. Guess what? I don't care.

Just because they don't go does not mean they don't believe. Religion coomes from within. You do not need to go to church to be a religious person.

I was simply making a statement, not a judgement. I'd argue more, but this topic is putting me to sleep. I just don't understand why people can't live and let live, believe and let believe...

No; but the topic eventually get's brought up when asked what I'm doing over the weekend. Churches have functions and various things like that. I don't go up to people and say, "Hi! I'm a Christian! I go to church! Do you go to church? No? Then you're going to hell!" Does that answer your question?

Well enough. Maybe when they ask you what you're doing over the weekend, you should say 'going to church, but I don't want to talk about it unless you have the same beliefs as I do.'

Tell who? I don't tell them anything. As I stated before the topic of church eventually gets brought up in conversation. All I was saying (from my previous post) was that I don't care why other people choose not to go to church. That's they're decision. I just find it weird that individuals feel the need to tell me why they don't attend church (or why they don't believe in God) when they find out I do go to church. I'm not trying to be confrontive with anyone.

Part of it I think is still the Unspoken Rule of guilt that they do not go to church any more and feel judged. I've tried to beat that out of me(not literally) since I stopped going when I was 21. it kinda Like Having a little Lutheran inside me jump up and poke me. lol

True. And I think a lot of people feel like churchgoers judge everyone else around them. Me? I don't judge. I know all of you people are going to hell.

To label an entire group with such a strong emotion is wrong some are incapable of love or hate of anything regardless of religion!

They just enjoy the humor of religion and regard highly the long hours spent concentrating on it. Also the prejudices, hypocrisy, bigotry and unadulterated hate of it, all in spite of all it's most sacred teachings.

I think they do not like Religion due to the Holier than thou attitude Like an Athesist can not be Moral .

No, But I believe that they hate Religious Hypocrisy which is in GREAT abundance.
