DNC Chief Urges Romney to Release Tax Returns, but Won't Release Her Own

Evil 1 2012/07/10 14:39:57
The Democratic National Committee chair, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, is in Boston today to hold an event to urge Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to release his tax returns.

"Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz will join Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair John Walsh to discuss former Governor Mitt Romney’s history of fighting transparency amid new reports that the Republican presidential candidate has secret bank accounts in foreign tax havens," a Democratic National Committee press release states.

The goal for Wasserman Schultz is clear: To get Romney to release tax returns and other financial documents.

But the irony of today's event is rich: Debbie Wasserman Schultz has refused--and continues to refuse--to release her own tax returns.

In April, around Tax Day, Wasserman Schultz's Republican congressional opponent, Karen Harrington of Florida, requested the DNC chair release her tax returns. “This week millions of taxpaying Americans will fulfill their requirement of filing their tax returns by paying any and all taxes due to the federal government,” Harrington’s campaign said in a statement. “Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has been asking Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney to release his 2011 tax return even after Governor Romney released his 2010 tax return.”

“Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz’s request of Governor Romney to release his tax returns screams of hypocrisy, because to the best of our knowledge, Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz has never released a single tax return of her own. As a member of Congress, she is required to release a yearly ‘financial disclosure,’ this yearly disclosure is not a tax return.

“While asking for Governor Romney to release his past tax returns, and In keeping with the spirit of President Obama’s call for ‘full transparency,’ we ask Congressman Wasserman Schultz to release her own tax returns.”

The hypocrisy here is clear: Wasserman Schultz still has not released her own tax returns, but she continues to campaign for Mitt Romney to release his.

This is nothing but the democrats trying to distract from their failed ideology. You can bet that Obama would have sicked the IRS on him if he hadn't. Besides, Romney is a republican. It is the tax everyone else democrats that do not pay their taxes. Remember when Obama could not even find democrats that actually paid their taxes to fill his cabinet positions? Remember Charlie Rangle? Remember John Kerry with his foreign made yacht? Remember Claire McCaskill with her private jet? Yet democrats do not even care when it is the hypocritical tax everyone else democrats that do it. Despicable.

I could give a damn about hers , I want to know how much the potential leader of this country has invested in foreign countries that took the American jobs and our technology . Is he one of the traitors to our workers ? Are we all not in this together or is America only for the rich ?

Yeah well she should show and the potential leader should show the way . Looks as though the goose doesn't know whats good for it so how can the gander ? They all have something to hide they all play the NWO game to further their personal wealth as they screw over the American worker and call themselves Patriots . The commie sympathizers should all be removed no matter what side they are on .

I agree. I think every politician running for President, Congress and the Senate should release at least 4 years of their tax returns as well as any and all college transcripts. But for Schultz to demand Romney comply while she doesn't proves she is not better than him in this matter. And I wonder if Romney supplies his will she do the same? If not she should not be re-elected. The two party system in this country is a major part of our problem. The politicians know exactly what they are doing with their 'divide and conquer' actions. It's too bad the majority can't see past the smoke and mirrors and realize they are doing nothing but benefiting themselves and their cronies rather than the people who elect them. It's too bad we are always left with a choice that amounts to the lesser of two evils.

Has anyone asked for the other Congressional members to produce their tax returns? Has anyone asked Boehner or McConnell to release theirs? I would like to see all of them including Pelosi, Kerry, Boxer, etc., etc. The premise of this post and the article is to show the hypocrisy of Schultz. And if any other Congressional member were asked to realease their information (regardless of political party) and refused while demanding Obama or Romney release their would make them just as much a blatant hypocrite as Schultz.

The office you are running for is not the premise of the article. The premise is Schultz blatant hypocrisy. She is running for re-election and her opponent has supplied tax information. She refuses to do so yet demands Romney supply his. Maybe her constiuents would like to see her returns. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Also I am in favor of each and every candidate regardless of political party running for the Presidency, Congress or Senate to produce at least four years of tax returns. But again the premise of this post is Schultzs hypocrisy not the office she is seeking.
