Is it just me? Does anyone else find this statement absolutely mindboggling??

The Justice Department ordered Florida’s elections division to halt a systematic effort to find and purge the state’s voter rolls of noncitizen voters.

Unless I am mistaken isn't the job of the justice dept to UPHOLD law?? To prosecute violators?

Apparently the "just-us" dept has a totally different function.

Heck when I registered to vote, I went to the State DMV signed a sheet of paper (from a stack on the counter) that I was a citizen of the US. That is it.

    Didn't have to show ID.

You want corruption, just go back to the 2000 election with the Florida Sec't. of State, and the President's brother.

The only thing fraudulent about that was Gore's questioning of it. He knew he couldn't do the job in the first place. If Dubbya was an idiot, at least he was a kind, good-hearted idiot, and his idiocy pales in comparison to that of Al Gore...

I suppose the Obama clan is more your speed with their questionable lineage and questionable documents, hidden secrets, divisive nature, DUI charges and brown shirt rhetoric? Yeah, I can totally understand that.

I don't think that you understand much more than you want to.

"Guess in which states election laws are tightening?

If you said red states, you win a pocket Constitution!

I wonder why Republican-controlled Legislatures are doing everything they can to make it difficult to vote? Shouldn't it be easier to vote in Florida than Iraq?"

Voter Fraud? Just look to the red states, doing just what they did after the Civil War.

Republican states are doing so because they are trying to keep Obama from winning through voter fraud, which was an allegation made in 2007. The question we SHOULD be asking is why the Blue states aren't doing the same thing? But then we both already know the answer to that one. So what's the point.

The problem is that there is not, and was not, enough "voter Fraud" to swing the election in either direction. Check the winning margins and the number of proven Voter Fraud instances.
The facts WILL set you free.

Cases of PROVEN voter fraud are unlikely to represent the totals. Florida is trying to prevent voter fraud. They're so serious about it they're even expressing their probable willingness to disregard the JD's order to stop their purge.

Do the words Fast and Furious mean anything to you? How about Solyndra? How about the EPA thugs that visited a tea party activist's house because he tried to get contact information so he could email Al Armendariz. How about the brief he had Eric Holder send to intervene in the Card Check Forced Unionism case out in the 11th Circuit Federal Court in California? Wake up and smell the slime, dude. You're backing a scumbag... No matter, the people have seen his true colors and he's going down in November, if not before...

What's your point? Bush isn't president anymore. Obama and Holder are the ones on the carpet for Fast and Furious. Not Bush and Gonzales. It's funny how a liberal only cares about history when they think it makes their point seem a little less stupid.

After seeing this video I admit the process may be insulting to some, however, I think Alcee Hastings should be quoted far and wide in what he said to the Florida Governor: "We need transparency, we need accountability and we need legality, and it is his exacting responsibility to ensure that..." I think these words should be played on a loop reel in the oval office all day every day in D.C. These are the reasons Florida has enacted this purge of the voting registry. There are a lot of fraudulent or mistaken registrations that could, (and probably will if he can get away with it), be made use of by someone like Obama, who has absolutely no regard for any of the three criteria spoken of by Mr. Hastings.

I have no issue with tranparency, only with the manner this is being carried out.

So let Nancy Pelosi and Harry Rid define transparency. We haven't seen any since Obama took office.
  • rogerka... MsTlynne 2012/06/01 18:42:19

I see your point and think it might be better done in a different, more sensitive manner. Really the only thing going on in Florida, after all, is an attempt to make sure that Obama and Acorn don't fraudulently win another election.

However, the transparency demands that Hastings made would be well considered in the White House. Don't you agree?

How should it be done? honestly. I am not being ugly. Should someone go out like census workers? Door to door? That would be pretty expensive. he was sent notice to show ID for a reason. I would rather offend someone by asking then allow ANYONE with no legal right to vote to vote.

He was supposed to show documentation at the time he registered. The only fair way to do this is to make EVERYONE reregister.

If you are not registered you can not vote. The point is you should not be registered for life!! THAT is asking for fraud. You should register every year.

No problem, then ask everyone (not just certain people) to reregister...to be fair.

And due to a misunderstanding he must do so again. It's like identity theft, there is likely another person with the same name as him who is not eligible and is registered. So now all he has to do is go prove it again, sure it's a pita but it's not difficult and certainly better than giving his vote away. What if one of these illegals votes opposite of him, that completely nullifies his vote, and by a person with no right to be in our country, much less vote on our government.
