A conservative activist closely monitoring the hate crimes legislation pending before a House committee says although the measure still poses a threat to the religious freedom of Christians who speak out publicly against homosexuality, the foundation of the bill has been removed.

Democrats in the House Judiciary Committee had planned on holding a vote on the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act yesterday, but due to a large amount of Republican amendments to the bill, the vote was postponed until this morning. The bill would add homosexuals and transgender people to the list of protected categories under federal hate crimes law.

Andrea Lafferty, executive director of the Traditional Values Coalition, notes that Democrats were forced to eliminate a key portion of the bill -- the findings section.

"We exposed the fact that they claimed, they have fraudulent claims that there was an epidemic of hate against homosexuals and drag queens, transgenders. And that claim was the foundation of the bill," she notes. "They claimed that homosexuals are fleeing across state lines to avoid persecution, and that perpetrators are crossing state lines to commit crimes against these gays, lesbians, and transgenders, and that they have trouble purchasing goods and services or finding employment. We nailed them on the fact that that's a lie."

Lafferty says during yesterday's markup hearing, Democrats neglected to mention that in this country of 300 million people, there have been only 1,521 cases of hate against homosexual, bisexual, and transgender people.

The Judiciary Committee hearing resumes at 9:00 p.m. Central time today. A vote on the House floor is expected next week.

That's what I'm talking about! I have no problems with a person's choice. I do with the millions of Christians who've died for their choice. Sign the petition and make sure your voice is heard. All hate crimes are a problem period! We don't have to 'qualify' and put a statute in place.

Hate crimes legislation fails the equal protection clause by making one class of individuals more protected than any other class. This legislation is meant more to silence critics of the homosexual lifestyle than to promote justice.

I’ve been giving this one additional thought. At first I saw this as an attack on free-speech. Particularly because it sees like everyone is in a protected status except straight white male republicans. I think that with a couple of tweaks I could be convinced to support it. First thing is to make it retroactive to 2000, then include those white guys I referred to earlier and make the penalties very harsh say mandatory prison time maybe. We could get into the NSA database that keeps track of blogs, emails, and pretty much everything that happens on the internet. Search on the keywords “hate and Bush” after that it’s just a matter of building enough prisons to hold all those nasty haters.

Who the hell cares except for the people who hate gay's or are just ignorant about them and want them kept in thier place. Who really cares if the Democrats lied or not. Gay's rights need to be protected in this country period. It's a shame that in a free country we have to make a law to protect gay's but unfortunately that is the case here because of hate and prejudice against gay's especially coming form the Christian community.

The saddest of all facts is that we have plenty of laws in this country to protect everyone and what we need are courts and jurists to uphold the work our brave law enforcement do every day as they put their lives on the line. We don't need specialty laws to protect specialty classes - the homosexuals are already included in our laws!

Liberal hypocrisy amazes me! They will denounce any criticism of the groups they favor as and act of genocidal violence, while at the same time spray the most toxic verbal-venom on anyone they disagree with by the gallon. if they applied these same "hate-crime laws" to themselves,
they would all get the guillotine.

Weapons of mass distruciton. The Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (H.R. 1913), which will be up for a vote in the House of Representatives soon, should not be passed.

While many states have "hate" crime laws that include homosexuals and lesbians, including bisexuals and transgenders (LGBT), there is no law on the federal level. The bill before Congress would have the Department of Justice investigate and prosecute anti-LGBT "hate" crimes.

Matthew Shepard, as you may know, was a Wyoming college student who was tied to a post and beaten to death by Russell Arthur Henderson and Aaron James McKinney in October 1998, supposedly for being homosexual. It is my belief that Shepard might be a part of a conspiracy by homosexuals to get "hate" crime "legislation" passed into law on the federal level, and that Shepard conspired with the "attackers" and others to do the "murder," so as to have a high profile case with which to title the bill, and to make it very difficult to be against the bill.

The strategy is to undermine Human Rights with Civil Rights "laws." Don't get me wrong, I am for Civil Rights for all Human Beings, as the institutionalization by society of Human Rights. However, there are those who "craft" laws to cause the very lawlessness and violence they claim to want to stop and prevent.

People must not let the conspirators use our good nature against us and our great nation. It would seem to be simple, that "hate" crime laws are an important milestone in Human achievement. However, it is my belief that there are those who are conspiring to undermine Human Rights and to destroy society with fraudulent regulations and laws.

We need an investigation into this matter to stop the conspirators from making laws and regulation utterly criminal.

Please phone your House Representative, and tell him or her to vote NO on H.R. 1913, The Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act.

Let me ask you something: Do you think al Queda is arabs? Do you think 9/11 was done by al Queda? Take a look at this site about the Abu Ghraib prison, or actually it's the "movie" about Abu Ghraib prison, and tell me, do you really think that was torture of Iraquis, or do you think it's members of the Bush administration trying to "x" Hades out? Or perhaps they are doing their own trial and punishment in the hopes of avoiding Hades because of "double jeopardy"? Not that they can, they can't.

    http://www.sonyclassics.com/s...

And yes, I think Matthew Shepard was in on "his" own "murder." Do you think Matthew Shepard was really abducted and raped in "Morocco"? Do you think Shepherd Smith might have something to do with Matthew Shepherd? See this clip:

I've read all of your posts from your answer to the poll, to this most recent response. All I saw was a bunch of bad-mouthing of people who agree with the pollster. I didn't see anything where you proved the real reason the bill was postponed. Anyways, I disagree with the Hate Crimes Act, because it sounds much to akin to Freedom of Choice Act, and the Fairness Doctrine. I think the moral fabric of our society is slipping away. Let me give you one of my posted questions, answer it and tell me if you think what happened to these people was fair.

I finally found your "proof" that it is a lie, but if what you are saying is true, then why didn't it pass yet?? If the Dems shot down all of the Rep, then why didn't it pass?? It would seem the Rep's are still keeping it from happening. Also, next time you want to find "proof" and have people actually take it as such, perhaps you should provide a link where this info could be found. It's as simple as pressing "Ctrl C", then "Ctrl V".
