I know that you RepugniCons wrote the Bush tax cuts to sunset in 10 years, and that deadline is coming up. I know your lying Representatives and Senators are going to do their best to see that nothing is done to stop the tax increase so you can blame Obama. Yeah, I pretty well know what going on.

No president raises or lowers taxes. It's congress. Please remember the party of no will let the Bush tax rates expire if the wealthy are asked to pay more taxes no matter how many people live in tents & go hungry. That's how much the republicans care about people.

I read a about good solution this AM. It's only the beginnning but I like it.

I grew up in a conservative highly educated family that gladly paid their taxes.It was money to run our government and provide for our military to protect us.My father was a captain in the Navy. They would be horrified at the way our money is being wasted and misspent.I doubt they would be so willing to send hard earned money to the irresponsible government we have now.It isn't just Obama,although he is on a dangerous course we spent a fortune in Irag.Someone has to take charge of spending.NOT taxing.

Before 2010, and scheduled to return in 2013, we had reductions in deductions for both a) total itemized deductions and b) personal exemptions, as your total adjusted gross income increases. Marry an individual with substantial income and potentially all of your personal exemptions disappear. In addition, as much as 3% of your income (over a floor amount that changes annually) comes off your total itemized deductions.

Lose two 2011 personal exemptions of $3,700 each and your taxable income is up by $7,400. With a marginal tax rate of 28%, that's an additional $2,072 in tax to be paid.

There really hasn't been any change in his position on the Bush tax cuts, which are widely acknowledged to have ballooned the deficit.

...Obama still wants to keep the cuts in place for people making under $250,000 dollars per years. Most Americans support raising taxes on those making sums above that figure.

He wants to maintain the tax cuts for the middle income, but let it expire for those over $250,000. It's Congress that won't agree to that, so it's not Obama who is allowing a tax increase for the middle class, it is Congress.

And all this time I thought that it was around the time of the Bush tax cuts finally sunsetting and not an actual tax increase. Maybe it could have stuck around longer if the major beneficiaries would have actually CREATED JOBS instead of just calling themselves "job creators", which was nothing more than code for not paying their fair share!!

Tax policy is written in the Congress, and is controlled by Republicans, not by Obama. The Republicans in Congress are trying to transfer wealth away from working people and towards those who parasitically live off the wealth created by others. Vote those bastards out of Congress!

The Democrats have the Executive Branch and the Senate. The Republicans have the House. How is it you can claim that "Congress" is controlled by the Republicans? 30 jobs bills have gone from the house to the senate only to die in the hands of Harry Reid. Harry Reid and his democrat friends in the Senate have not passed a functioning budget in over 3 years, as they are required by law to do. Doesn't seem like the Republicans are in control of much of anything. Seems more like you grasping as straws in desperation of Oblowhole's impending disastrous re-election bid.

A bill needs to be passed by the House before the Senate can vote on it. Senate Republicans have abused the filibuster so that a supermajority is needed to pass a bill, so effectively, the Republicans can and have blocked all legislation that might have reduced the burden on the real wealth creators, the middle class. The Republican congress has declared war on working people.
