President Obama’s attacks on Mitt Romney’s time at Bain Capital have drawn heat from fellow Democrats — but may be resonating with voters

Nearly half of likely voters in 12 battleground states buy into the Obama team’s claims that private equity does not translate into new jobs, according to a new poll.

Forty-seven percent of those surveyed believe that the work done by firms like Bain hurts workers, as opposed to 38% who say it helps the economy, according to data released by Purple Strategies, a non-partisan research group.

The voters who seem the most skeptical that Romney’s time at Bain could help him restart the sluggish economy hail from some of November’s biggest prizes, including Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The President’s re-election team had hammered Romney’s history at Bain but backed off in recent weeks after the strategy was criticized by influential Democrats including Bill Clinton and Cory Booker.

Isn't it true that Bain donated to Obama's campaign back in 2008? So Bain wasn't a problem for Obama, 3 1/2 years ago how come all of a sudden Bain is a problem?? Also, Bain was a very successful company. BTW, Romney was busy with the Olympics when any type of trouble occurred at Bain. Just like people, corporations are not 100% problem free, it's not a perfect world.

And Bain Capital is still having problems with two of its businesses. One is in debt so bad that it cannot possible pay its due in 2014. $800 million dollars worth.

I give you the company you do the leg work.

Bain Capital owns Sealy Mattress company.

They have a ballon payment due of nearly $800 million dollars due in 2014. The company's balance sheet says there is no possible way to meet this obligation nor is the a way for the company to dig its way out.

    Revenue US$1,498.0 million (2008)
    Operating income US$584.0 million (2008)
    Net income US$ -2.9 million (2008)
    Total assets US$ 295.6 million (2008)

2009 Was even worse with less than a billion in sales and a loss for the operating year.

    2010 Was even with 2009
2011 was better but not by much Just over $1 billion. DOWN from its peak by 28%. and not looking to improve this year either.

The BAIN Capital saddled the company with the $800 million during the takeover and sucked the more than $1.6 billion in assets down to just under $300million in 2008.

This is what Vulture Capital companies do. They take them over in a leveraged buyout and suck out the assets.

Proof It is all over the finiancal pages. Here is just one of over 15 articles I found all saying the same thing.

    I don't make claims I can't prove.

I am comparing Romney's previous actions with the Current Bain and his actions wihen he was with them.

It is common knoweldge that Romney backs the Ryan Budget, which will kill the middle class, do away with SS/Medicare/Medicaid and strip off just about every other benefit program they can get away with.

Further, their attack on basic civil rights will be EXACTLY like that which happened in WWII Germany Minorities, handicapped and homosexuals will suffer at the hands of the Three headed hydra of Fascism.

Don't bother me anymore if you are not willing to look at the real world not your brainwashed party line from the Republicans and their string holders.

Bain Capital is no different than any of the other Vulture Capitalistic companies. Another perfect example is Zerox. They have bought up companies, sucked the assets out of them and dumped the carcas. Industrial Indemdity is a perfect example. Balance sheet showed over a billion in assets. Plus the fully funded defined benefit retirement program. They bought the company gutted the assest Changed the defined benefite retirement program to an annuity (purchased from their own insurance company) and sold off the rest of the company for only slightly less than they paid for it. Result, the employees got screwed, the retirees got screwed and the company that bought it got screwed. Zerox on the other hand made a $1 billion 300 millon on the deal. The exact same thing Bain Capital is doing to Sealy.

THE EXACT SAME THING THAT ROMNEY WILL DO THE THE AMERICANS ON SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE AND MEDICAID SSI AND FEDERAL RETIREMENT PROGRAMS.

You sir are part of the mouth piece of the NEW AMERICAN FASCIST REPUBLICAN PARTY OF THE US.

If indeed people are ignorant about real economics it will change their minds because of Obama throwing out propaganda and lies. Anybody with an ounce of economic sense knows that what Romney did was try and help companies stay afloat. Some he helped go bankrupt because that was where they were headed. Some were saved and jobs saved. The wisdom needed is to know how to look at a companies debt to ability and make a choice something Obama has failed at consistently throughout his regime. He invested money in company's doomed to failure and failed to invest in sure things.

It's about time the voters woke up and see Mitt Romney for the true person he is. Bain Capital is a prime account of how Mitt Romney does business. Mitt Romney is not for all of Ameria, He is out to make sure him and his 1% friends make another killing and sell the rest down the drain just like Bain Capital. American workers lost their jobs Thanks to Mitt Romney and Bain Capital actions. IS THIS REALLY THE KIND OF PRESIDENT YOU WANT, SELL AMERICA OUT SO HE CAN MAKE ANOTHER FORTUNE FOR HIM AND HIS FRIENDS, WHILE YOU DON;T HAVE ANYTHING TO HELP ROMNEY
