Just wondering how much people today really knows about who and what Jim Jones was..? Jim Jones was the toast of the town in San Francisco......he was adored by all the big wigs...........Big time preacher liberals followed him blindly and willingly...even when they were warned over and over again ..they were so happy to let someone else take care of them ...and JONES did take care of all 1000 of them right up to and including having them feed poison to themselves and their babies

Nope. Dick Cheney left the White House almost four years ago. Nowadays the closest analogue to Jim Jones is busy putting a spray on tan on to talk down to the Hispanic community, but there's not a chance that he'll ever get to the White House.

The President, of course, got it right. The plans for Fast and Furious were developed in 2006 under the guidance of Alberto Gonzales as part of the larger overall concept of "gunwalking". The first step was a smaller operation called "Wide Receiver", which was similar to F&F expect that the Bush Administration decided to let some Mexican security personnel in on the plans, which resulted in those Mexicans warning the drug cartels about the operation. (It was this betrayal by the Mexicans that led the people running Fast and Furious to not inform the Mexican authorities this time around) By 2009 when the Obama Administration took office the operational plans for Fast and Furious were already on the boards. The Right Wing insistence that F&F had no connection to Wide Receiver or that the plans for F&F were developed by the Obama Administration are demonstrably untrue.

I listed 3 sites about Fast and Furious. the one during Bush's term was NOT the ATF selling guns but tracking gun runners. ABC reported on it.

Democratic Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton of the District of Columbia. Fast and Furious began in October 2009 and Horowitz said subordinates should have told Holder about it well before 2011.
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com...
In this operation, which began in the fall of 2009 and continued into early 2011, the federal government purposefully allowed known or suspected gun smugglers to purchase guns at federally licensed firearms dealers in Arizona.
    http://cnsnews.com/news/artic...
The incident arose on Sept. 27, 2007, when ATF agents were conducting surveillance on subjects under investigation for gun trafficking and they hoped to work with the Mexican government to interdict them. The emails’ existence was first reported by The Associated Press Friday night.

Confusion over the incident came to the attention of ATF headquarters from Carson Carroll, who was then the deputy assistant director for the Office of Field Operations.

someone has badly misinformed you . Operation Wide receiver (2006) was a joint operation between the US and Mexican governments . This operation involved equipping guns with radio transmitters , tracked by aerial surveillance and intercepted before crossing the border.
The gun smugglers quickly learned to simply drive in circles until the plane had of refuel and then cross the border . In addition to damage to antenna by agents forcing the transmitters into the guns. It was considered a minor scandal when approximately 300 guns were able to cross the border and the program was ended . ( 2007 )

    YEARS PASS

Now two years later ( 2009 ) someone in the Obama administration decided that selling guns to Mexican drug Cartels was a good Idea . No tracking , no interception , No coordination with the Mexican Government . Just sell the drug Cartels guns. ( provide reasoning for this here , http://www.examiner.com/artic... )

Wide receiver was ended in 2007 . ( Bush )
Joint operation with Mexico , ended in Failure and was cancelled, when guns actually crossed the border.( about 275 guns )

Fast and Furious was created in 2009 ( Obama )
Solo activity , supply guns ( about 2000 ) without tracking to see where the eventually would be recovered . Ended when guns were used to kill border agents.

Fast and Furious was developed in 2006 and primarily authored by Alberto Gonzales. Wide Receiver was the first step in a larger gunwalking program. It's true that the plan for F&F wasn't executed until October 2009, but it was already on the boards the day the President took office.

funding and execution belong to the Obama administration .
a program that was cancelled two years earlier , then resurrected full accolades and credit can be attributed to those who instituted the program.

Peculiar thing is , the funding is mandated in the stimulus bill and No one knows who put it there .

The program wasn't cancelled. After Wide Receiver failed they took their time figuring out what happened. But if as you say the funding is in the stimulus bill, then that would seem to prove that the operation was, as I said, already on the boards when the President took office. You don't request funding for an operation that hasn't even been developed yet.

Is it not possible to request funding to develop programs ?

Charismatic, mesmerizing, super salesmen have preyed on people from the beginnings of mankind. Their egos and lack of empathy, their sense of entitlement and need to punish all who don't follow them, are common traits.
Yet there always seem to be those who fall for the scams, for the false promises, for the bogus expectations, and refuse to see the light.

I followed the Jim Jones fiasco from its inception. He preyed on the poor and others with his carismatic sermons. The people fell for his scam and turned their money and property over to him. When his operation came under scrutny, his mesmeristic influence led his followers out of the country. Concerned relatives started asking for an investigation as to what was happening which resulted in a congressman and others flying to the area. A gun battle insued when his plane landed and he was killed. This was the tipping point to the Jones "experiment" of communal living with him pocketing the profits. When the fraud was discovered and the murder occured, the Koolade was forcibably served upon his "faithful". I cannot recall if there were any survivors..
