This time of year, Republican leader Mitch McConnell's office suite, steps away from the Senate floor, often crackles with a fire in the hearth. On Wednesday, it sat shuttered and almost empty.

The cold stillness captured the state of affairs as senators and President Obama prepared to return to work Thursday facing an imminent deadline to avoid across-the-board tax increases and large spending cuts scheduled to take effect Tuesday.

No, he said four years ago that his only goal was to make sure Obama was a one term president, and since that didn't happen, he will not cooperate at all with the president. He's nothing but a bitter old man that needs to retire since he won't do what he was hired to do....and that is to work for the betterment of the American people. He's a selfish old bitter man.

Mitch McConnell is one of the prime examples of why we need term limits. Out of touch and out of time. If he spent more time working on realistic solutions to our problems and less on a useless hate campaign, the country would be better off.

I expect - I demand - more from our Senators and Congresspeople. And when they fail to live up to those expectations - they need to be fired, and replaced by someone who will do the job.

Having a political goal - making Obama a 1-term President (which failed, of course) - as a #1 goal is sickening - and sad. So yes - I do expect more from "the Walrus".

For McConnell to do what is right, would mean rejecting any budget that raises taxes without major spending cuts, including slashing our bloated welfare system and bringing it back to the emergency safety net it was intended to be.

Any deal that does not balance the budget must be rejected, or else the status quo will continue. I do not believe McConnell has the conviction to do what is right.

He is a Senior member of the US Congress, i have come to expect nothing from them anymore since that leads to less disappointment.

Making a perfect environment for Obama to become a dictator. Cloward-Priven (the majority dependent on the government), disarmament, monetary gifts for cooperation (he increased the pay of congress ---so they will give him what he wants), crooked & criminal activity that got him elected, the help of the UN & INTERPOL to keep order while he takes over.
