Did Obama Say, ‘If You’ve Got a Business, You Didn’t Build That’? OH REALLY? This is the sort of comment made by someone who has never signed a check in a self owned private company

iamnothere 2012/07/17 11:56:00
Obama shows not just his ignorance of private sector business.. but his disdain for those who work, live, and breath success into business that they personally have built. Tell us OSCUMBO if I run a repair company.. and you suck 50% of my profits out to pay for you to go jet set around the world or play a hundred rounds of golf with 25 guys standing around just watching ... also on my dime.. hum.

Talk about a communist in chief

Did Obama Say, ‘If You’ve Got a Business, You Didn’t Build That’?

Conservatives have been jumping on comments President Obama made in Roanoke, Va., in which he said “if you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that.”

As an example, read what the Heritage Foundation posted at its blog that the comment was a “slap in the face to hard-working Americans conveyed Obama’s belief that it takes a village – a heavily subsidized village – to create that venture you’re profiting from.”

A Romney campaign spokeswoman told Fox the comment was “insulting” to small business owners.

Get more pure politics at ABC News.com/Politics and a lighter take on the news at OTUSNews.com

The president’s argument, which is similar to one made by Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren, revolves around the idea that business people need the infrastructure provided by the government in order to succeed.

Here’s the full context of what he said:

We’ve already made a trillion dollars’ worth of cuts. We can make some more cuts in programs that don’t work, and make government work more efficiently…We can make another trillion or trillion-two, and what we then do is ask for the wealthy to pay a little bit more …

There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me, because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t -look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something – there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business. you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.

So we say to ourselves, ever since the founding of this country, you know what, there are some things we do better together. That’s how we funded the GI Bill. That’s how we created the middle class. That’s how we built the Golden Gate Bridge or the Hoover Dam. That’s how we invented the Internet. That’s how we sent a man to the moon. We rise or fall together as one nation and as one people, and that’s the reason I’m running for president – because I still believe in that idea. You’re not on your own, we’re in this together.”

You!

'Bama believes he and the government is the answer to everything and not the root of any problems. He is totally lost as to what America is and stands for.
He reminds me of a renter who thinks the owner didn't work and sweat to provide the rental property and they tear it up as much as they can.

I am curious if any people who previously voted for 'Bama have seen the light and changed.

What can you expect from a post turtle?
A guy, who has never started a company, never met a payroll and, never had a real job; of course he thinks everything comes from the government, inasmuch as he has lived off the government tit all his life.
This is class warfare at its finest. Calculated to make his loser supporters feel sooo good about the fact that they are . . . well losers, and at the same time they are somehow responsible for helping successful people become so.

Now if you want to know how many people are 'to young or to stupid', just check how many people voted for him last election. That is a lot of young and stupid people. Now we know why this country is in the shape it is in. Oh yes, I seriously doubt any of those previous voters have changed.

They have not made a trillion dollars worth of cuts. WTH is this fool talking about? Is he crazy? Seriously...you would have to be completely off your rocker to say something like this...much less believe it. Yeah, ok, Oblahblah, business owners have not built their own businesses. What a crock. Who is he talking to? Who would begin to believe any of this crapola?

That just shows how "smart" our president really is. I watched my brother in law build his concrete business from the ground up . He worked 12 to 14 hour days every day of the week. He missed time with his family and his friends. He had the support of my sister and his family. But he was the one who put in the hard work not our government as our president would have you believe. That man will say anything to get re-elected. The sad part is that so many people who don't have a business will actually believe him.

the problem for most debtocrap voters is that since they have never made a payroll they have Zero clue what it takes to run a business.. they dont see the 30 years of sweat and worry that it takes to build a business.. the ups the downs.. All they know is that those evil business owners always take a big chunk out of their pay checks every pay period..

Well without government we know most in the government would be without a job. This is just the belief that the government owns everything and that the fruits of your labor belong to the government. so he can give to his friends and then redistribute whatever scraps are left to the fools that believe him............

However these days since you need permission by the government on some level to start a business and the government says what standards pay and just about everything else you'll have to answer to could be there is no more free enterprise....

What cuts, what is Obama talking about?

They're making the false assumption, as Elizabeth Warren made, that the successful entrepreneur contributed nothing before, during and after becoming successful. Nothing could be further from the truth. They paid their taxes all along the way, they contributed all along the way and continue to do so. This is just a resentment/class warfare play, nothing more.

What they did assume correctly, though, is their minions will buy this hook, line and sinker.

Everyone gets the benefit of the roads, bridges, utilities, schools, firefighters, etc. It's how you use these 'benefits' that allows a person to succeed. We can choose to sit on our cans and ask the Government to take care of us, or we can get out there and work. And some go even further and start their own businesses (well they used to before all the government regulations came into play).

Yes, he did say it and if you noticed how he said it... it's clear his teleprompter is on vacation. Obama is clearly trying to play on class warfare and is too ignorant to understand that not every business has 20,000 employees.

To Obama supporters... pay attention. When someone creates a business, they did create it and they did create the jobs that come with it. What Obama is trying to do here is focus you on the money that the super rich possess but he's not pointing out that for every successful business venture that creates jobs... there are a thousand business ventures that fail where those who tried to build a business lose everything and some are indebted for the rest of their lives because their business did not succeed... and often, those that are successful now and who are among the super rich, can fail tomorrow and be indebted millions or even billions of dollars.

True, they have so much money that they never worry about paying their bills and they can buy so much that we can only dream about. But also true that if they did not have the initiative, the drive and the good fortune to create a successful business... the common person would today still be living under a serf system and everyone would be slaughtering their own chickens or praying to God their crops do...

Unless you live on a farm where you can grow your own food... then you depend upon the jobs created for you and while some prosper, most fail to establish a business.

The example by Iamnothere is very astute because Obama's ignorant statement slaps the individual business owner, who employs only themselves, directly in the face... no, let me correct that, Obama has spit in their faces.

You can attack Romney as being a wealthy businessman far removed from the common man... but when you look at Obama, he's even more removed from the reality of the common American and unlike Romney, Obama doesn't have a clue how jobs are created. Obama is like an innocent child who gets a toy at Christmas thinking Santa and the elves made it... then he notices it says Made In China on it and asks, "Does Santa live in China now daddy".. and daddy has to answer, "No child, Santa doesn't live in China, he just outsources jobs to China exploiting cheap labor because the elves wanted too much money... so the elves all starved to death and Santa's a multi billionaire with all the money he saved using Chinese labor". That's Obama logic as if anyone asked him about Santa, he'd just blame Santa for everything that's gone wrong in the world and get his supporters to voice hatred for Santa as part of the 1%ers.

These statements and others made by Obama are revealing his true Marxist attitude and the fact that he believes he is unstoppable at this point. If Romney or any other republican made this kind of statement it would have been blasted 24/7. What scares me is that there are so many voters who support this concept. They have no concept of what they are begging and pushing for and that they are willingly giving up there freedoms for government control of their lives.

The sad thing is that once people have something decided within their own minds, it is next to impossible to change their thinking. The people you talk about will still be supporting Obama when being led off to the closest FEMA camp. I have had quite a few of them argue with me about what "freedom" is, for crying out loud! They say, "I've lost no freedoms" and when I tell them what they have lost, they brush it aside as nothing, as unimportant, as necessary, etc. They won't grasp enslavement until it is thrust upon them. And I simply cannot work up any sympathy for them.

There's an old saying here where I live (forgive the crude analogy please).

"They are getting screwed and won't know it until they feel the weenie wiggling....and then it's too late"

This describes the Obamabots mentality...unable to think or reason for themselves..just blindly follow based upon what they are told and what meets their "someone owes me something or it's someone else's fault" mentality. When they get what they pushed for they then deny their support of wanting it.
