He must be worried about November. And feels he needs the gays to back him up since over half of the rest of the Country isn't. Or maybe he spent alot of time on his knees as a Senator.

Actually he didn't need to, but he did regardless, because he wants the votes from both gay and lesbian voters. So he flip flopped on his ideas of Gay marriage. I just wish he would say one thing and stick with it, instead of flip flopping so much. Just you wait between now and October he will be flip flopping so much, changing everything he thought he believed in before, just to appease the voters , and in opposition to the republican contender, so he can get his 2nd term in ans ruin our nation even further, including drastically raising our debt, so far out of reach, that it will never be repairable. Say hello to China, because if they don't own us yet, they will by the end of an Obama 2nd term.

More distraction from the economy. But those church going Democrats who were flip-flopping on whether to vote for him and give him 4 more years to get the economy under control (yep, there are those who think that) may wave him bye-bye over this.

Pandering for bucks, and then of course Biden was let out of the closet, and being Biden he shot off his mouth without clearing it with the Obama crowd. Gay donors were going to cut off the money if Obama didn't come out in support of them, and we all know that the money talks for all politicians. obama

"The Influence Industry: Same-sex marriage issue shows importance of gay fundraisers

President Obama’s announcement Wednesday that he supports same-sex marriage highlights the importance of the gay community to his re-election effort, which could get a boost in donations as a result.

Many of Obama’s key financial supporters are gay--including finance director Rufus Gifford and Democratic National Committee treasurer Andrew Tobias--and the campaign has regularly held fundraisers focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender donors.

A review of Obama’s top bundlers, who have brought in $500,000 or more for the campaign, shows that about one in six publicly identify themselves as gay. His overall list of bundlers also includes a number of gay couples who have wed in jurisdictions where same-sex marriage was legal."

"President Obama says Sasha and Malia influenced his stance on same-sex marriage"

The idea that Obama had an epiphany on the gay marriage issue for any reason other than money is nonsense. He should be ashamed of himself for using his kids in his story

Don't really see it as a flip flop considering all of his actions since coming into office were the actions of a man that supports same sex marriage. Now you may want to talk to Mr. Romney about this considering his gay campaign advisor was let go with nary a sound from the mittster himself. Now that's real flip flopping!

In the '08 election he was all for 'traditional marriage'...he needed to 'come out' and support gay marriage this time around....to show exactly where he stands on this issue...like all issues he stands for.....on both sides of the issue
Proving yet again that he will say and do anything to anyone at anytime...

In 2008 the only presidential candidate to support Gay Marriage was Kucinich. Obama stated himself that he supported a strong form of civil unions.

True... But, as he stated yesterday, he thought civil unions were good enough until he understood the difference better. (paraphrasing of course).

You never know with politicians like him. He's most likely attempting to distract us from the economy and wars by using social issues that shouldnt be an issue in the first place.

The difference is, he's not the one bringing the social issues to the table. Had NC not put such a measure on their ballot, we wouldn't even be talking about this.

I didn't read it as a flip-flop. Where did that come from? Regarding flip-flops I think Romney has set the bar on that, and continues to raise it.
