Did NASA cancel the Mars program because of UFOs?

NASA is working with a tighter budget, just like they said

Following Image of ‘Alien Craft’ on Mars, NASA Abruptly Cut the Mission

February 9 of this year, there were reports of an “alien craft” spotted on Mars. NASA was quick to say that the object was one of ours.

Within 2 days of that picture, NASA pulled the plug on the Mars mission. (Cue the X-Files theme here.)

Of course, NASA could be cutting the program because of the budget. That's the "official reason" being given.

There’s another possibility, and it's related to the budget. The government could be preparing to leave it to private companies; to just let SpaceX or Virgin Galactic go to Mars. In other words, the Mars mission could become privatized.

What do you think? Think NASA worried about stirring up trouble on Mars, or only avoiding trouble with the checkbook?

    Virgin Galactic goes to Mars.
They build a self sufficient base/habitat.
A constitution is published and the Free State of Mars is proclaimed.
Persons show up at the UN and present the documents of diplomats asking for membership.
At the same time diplomats show up in Washington D.C., Moscow, Beijing, London, Rome, Sidney, Brasília, Ottawa and Tokyo and present them selves as ambassadors of the Free State of Mars.
Each ambassador proposes treaties of friendship, trade, and mutual defense.
All of the Free State delegations invite CNN to attend every second of there talks.
The Free State ambassador to the UN goes on CNN and announces a policy of open immigration as the Free State needs people to help with the exploitation of the abandon underground cities of the vanished high tech martian civilization.
As a side note the ambassador announces he is inviting all of the Free States treaty partners to establish military bases on Mars.

......are we ready for some interesting times?

I sure am. Mars is starting to sound like the next frontier, waiting to be explored and settled. Life imitates science fiction. :)

May be they are in discussion, debating mineral rights around the face on Mars. May be the Face on Mars is a big intergalactic trading post.

Hey, that's a interesting thought. If the face is a trading post, maybe all-the-more reason to commercialize space exploration? Send Sir. Richard over there to cut some trade deals :)
