Did Justice Roberts just HAND the ELECTION to OBAMA??!!

I was as shocked as anyone else when conservative Constitutionalist Supreme Court Justice Roberts declared the Fed. Govt mandate portion of Obamacare Constitutional. His vote actually decided the outcome of the case and swinged the support from right to left.

Today, Democrats are celebrating a milestone victory in the fight to get Americans access to healthcare. The GOP is fired up at the possibility of repealing said mandate and have already scheduled a vote in the house.

Some strategists are saying that Justice Roberts has actually played the decision of Obamacare as a tax on the people in order to have it more easily repealed by his fellow Party members later on.

How will this affect Romney's chances in the General Election? Why didn't Justice Roberts take a stand on the issue now instead of kicking it down the road for the hous later? Can the Supreme Court sometimes make mistakes in ruling? Are they really above the politics of the day?

You know what to do America!!! Vote right now, leave a comment, share with everyone who loves this country, and don't forget to RAVE!!!!

Probably. What is certain is that November comes down to a one-word litmus test for candidates: Repeal! It's that simple. No other issue matters because so much is riding on the repeal of Obamacare: jobs, economic growth, and of course health care.

Obamacare has to go in its entirety. Roberts made it so.

I'm happy about it. The medical field is unhappy, because the doctors won't be making beaucoup money like they have been making.

Health care costs have been going up for decades -- that's one of the reasons President Obama fought to pass the Affordable Care Act. Obamacare makes targeted changes to hold costs down. The President started by taking on the insurance companies. As he said yesterday, the law ensures that insurance companies spend 80% of your premium dollars on your health care, not administrative costs or CEO bonuses. If they don't follow that rule, they have to send you a rebate. This month, more than 12 million Americans will receive over $1 billion in rebate checks, and we're all seeing lower premiums because of it.

The law also takes on waste in our health care system. Let's take just one example. We spend billions of dollars every year treating people for infections they get while they are in the hospital. The health care law helps hospitals take simple but necessary steps to prevent infections. These types of reforms will save up to $35 billion and 60,000 lives.

Well, you recited the obamacare handbook flawlessly. There is no such thing as an efficient government program let alone a bureaucracy that reduces waste. They, by their very nature are wasteful...

Do know that giving the 0 the boot won't be enough. Have to rototill the Senate also to repeal this bill. In the meanwhile the laws are being implemented, the IRS will have access to your bank accounts for garnishments. It will be very difficult to undo everything even when the law is repealed. Romney says he will repeal this bill and WRITE a NEW ONE. Just what in the hell does that mean? Is this another Here we go Again scenario?

I may be too optimistic, but Roberts made a comment which sounded to me like a call to the American voters to change this law in November.

In essentially abstaining from determining whether health care reform is legitimate, Roberts said that it is up to the American people to once and for all settle the question at the ballot box.

For those who oppose Obamacare, making Obama a one term president would change this horrific law pretty quickly.

Maybe the Government, by that time, will realize they have no right to force people to buy anything? Instead of taking healthcare away from the elderly, the Government should stop bailing out those who refuse to buy their own insurance.

There are people who refuse to buy their own insurance and those who simply cannot afford to pay the insurance premiums. It will also assure that America goes broke. Healthcare needs fixed, but not with additional taxes, regulations and additional regulatory organizations (159 new ones to date). We need to lower insurance cost, doctor fees, and hospital fee, not increase them. We need to allow insurance companies to sell across state lines, doctors to set their own fees and set up preventative clinics at low cost by providing interns and nurses a way to make income while being trained.
  • sealpoint Ken 2012/07/02 16:56:40

Ultimately, the Affordable Care Act will make health care delivery more effective and less expensive with the 80/20 percent plan, which also will increase the number of people buying insurance.

Insurance companies will no longer be allowed to impose lifetime coverage limits on your insurance. Insurance companies will no longer be allowed to drop you when you get sick, or raise your rates because you are ill. Insurance companies will no longer be able to discriminate against women. These are features that I support. Of course I haven't read all the 2,000 pages, but I don't think you have either.

The bill is loaded with new tax programs that affect everyone and when combined with the 159 new regulatory agencies added, there is no way the cost won't destroy the insurance industry. I haven't read the whole bill, but I have read reviews and evaluations from all sides. My worst fear that Obamcare is a way to single payer system that will be a nightmare for everyone.

I have not completely read or fully comprehend the bill, so I will have to concede that the bottom line is money and each parties' mission is to defeat their opponent. I'm not voting Republican, because I don't think they even have a plan if the Affordable Health Care Plan is repealed.

Social Security and Medicare is taken out of our paychecks without our permission also, for the betterment of our society. When SS first started, it too was considered socialist and unconstitutional This is a program that has the best interests of our society in mind.
  • Ken sealpoint 2012/07/04 03:26:53

and how's that working out for us? Both programs are nearly broke and surely soon will be. I would have much rather taken the contributions of my employers and myself to invest as I saw fit. instead of the Government using it interest free to put in the general fund.
  • sealpoint Ken 2012/07/04 20:06:03

For now, Social Security is still taking in more money than it pays out in benefits. Any money that's left over goes into the Social Security Trust Funds.

Currently, the Trust Funds have large reserves, but by 2018 those surpluses will start turning into deficits. The benefits owed will be more than the taxes collected, and unless the program is changed, Social Security will have to dip into theTrust Funds to pay benefits.

In about 30 years, there will be nearly twice as many older Americans as there are today. Those changing demographics put Social Security benefits in jeopardy. That being said, social security was never meant to be a person's sole source of retirement income. It should be supplemented by private pensions and personal savings. Transforming all or part of social security into a system of individual private retirement accounts would promote individual self-interest over community interest and destroy a safety net that has been valuable to millions of Americans. We need to work together to come up with a solution to the system's flaws.

Social Security funds now go into the General Funds with IOUs going the the SS Trust Fund, that happened during Johnson's term and how do you think a country nearing $16 trillion can repay the IOUs? Especially with the projection of the debt more than doubling in the next ten years.

You are right about the IOU's and the debt. Inevitably, Congress will have to raise taxes and reduce spending.

Would you prefer a health care reform plan that raises taxes in order to provide health insurance to all Americans, or a plan that does not provide health insurance to all Americans but keeps taxes at current levels?

There are pros and cons to this debate and you bring up critical points to consider. In other words, I don't have the answer, but you have given me a lot to think about. Thanks for hanging in there with me. Your questions have made me rethink where I stand on this issue. It was a pleasure chatting with you. It's no wonder you are a sodaHead guru!

I would like to see everyone have health insurance, but it is probably not economically feasible. The best bet is to allow insurance companies to sell across state borders to make insurance more competitive. That's where I would start first.
Then I would change the education system for the medical field, 13 years of schooling is enough for general education; start qualified HS graduates immediately into Medical School cutting 4 years off their education and putting doctors and nurses into their field quicker. Next I would have some sort of reasonable tort reform to stop nuisance law suits and implement reasonable limits on suit awards.

This is just a start to some of the things that can decrease the cost of medical care.

Buying across state lines won't bring down costs. Insurance companies will become big national firms and you'll be left with the same few choices you have now.

In Healthcare Finance News (June 28, 2012), David Williams wrote about a new plan in Georgia. He goes on to write: Any company with a Georgia insurance license can sell plans from other states in Georgia – even plans that “don’t meet minimum standards for coverage in Georgia.” The law goes into force next week. As of now, not a single company is taking the state up on the opportunity. NPR contacted the biggest health plans in Georgia – including Blue Cross, Aetna, Humana, United and Kaiser – but not one of them would offer a comment.

Insurance companies want to make a profit and the money they make will still fall on you and me. It won't solve problems, it will create them. The bigger companies will put the smaller companies out of business. We'll be left with the same.
  • Ken sealpoint 2012/07/05 19:28:39
    Ken
By selling across state lines companies can co-op as groups and lower their insurance cost. Rates become lower with higher numbers in enrollment.

It is unlikely that insurance cost are ever going to decrease, there are too many people who are not participating in the cost. Why would they, when all they have to do is let the rest of us, who are being responsible, pay for theirs?

A big part of the problem is illegal immigrant health care. The illegals are filling up our emergency rooms. not paying for services and bankrupting our health care facilities, and it's only going to get worse.
  • sealpoint Ken 2012/07/05 21:31:19

When you address illegal immigrants, you open up a new can of worms. I live in Arizona where Governor Jan Brewer is pushing SB 1070. Although many illegals left the state several years ago in the wake of SB 1070, legal and illegal immigrants both pay state and federal taxes. None of the illegals collect on Social Security in any form or a lot of the federally funded health programs. More uninsured American citizens are filling up our emergency rooms. However, there are problems and our borders need to be more secure, but that's a whole different topic.
  • Ken sealpoint 2012/07/06 03:16:59

Illegals do collect Social Security, illegally. Recent investigations have uncovered billions of dollars in every state. We have immigration laws which our current President and the DOJ refuse to enforce; in doing so they invite fraud that cost the Government billions in entitlement cost.

Well, you got me on this one. I checked snopes.com and found that illegal immigrants often obtain fraudulent Social Security cards. I agree that this is wrong and the companies that hire them should be fined, but most of the time they're not.

We have Sheriff Joe Arpio who is fighting tooth and nail with the feds. I did vote for him.

After conversing with you, I found more cons than pros regarding the Affordable HealthCare Act, which was highly surprising to me.
