Did Barack Obama buy the election?

SodaHead Politics November 04, 2008 01:56:44

As everyone knows, Barack Obama has spent excessive amounts of money on his presidential campaign, with a total at least doubling that of John McCain's. Barack Obama took out ads in video games, and even had a special 30 minute infomercial broadcasted just for this 2008 presidential election. Obama is trying desperately to reach out to young voters and minority voters, but there gets to a point when you've gone too far. If you have to spend hundreds or billions of dollars to get elected, is it really about politics, or does it just come down to popularity and riches? Barack Obama was spending at a rate close to $91 million in just two weeks, where John McCain was only spending a mere $22 million in a two week period.

><br>
Why did Barack Obama spend so much money during this election, when John McCain spent bushels less? Did Obama buy the election?

.
Yes. Barack Obama bought the election.
No, Barack Obama won the election based on his politics.
I think Barack Obama...

You insult the people of United States inferring that we could be bought. Speak for yourself. To insinuate that people voted for him only because of his "color" would also insinuate that an equal amount of people voted for McCain (or against Obama) because of his color. If color is an issue, it exists on both sides of the coin. You don't think McCain was trying to garner some female voters by choosing Palin? If you are that much of a sore loser, maybe you should listen to your candidate's concession speech. You are insulting him as well. Nobody here is going to change anyone else's opinion, but some of these accusations are incredible. Foreign money bought the election? Did they sneak in under aliases and vote for him too? You should be ashamed. If you are that concerned about this country, suck it up and contribute on a bipartisan level to improve things.

Yes. Barack Obama bought the election.

obama had thousands of thousands of donations from other countries in smaller amounts so he did not have to show where it came from.it came from our enemies.the man will tell u anything u want to hear to push his goals.if ttt thinks that if he wouldve still got elected if he was white then shes been under a rock...or only listens to leftist only. why does he aim his campaigning at the youth who are democrats because they think its cool...the youth are ignorant with a few exceptions. and if ppl think bush screwed up the economy then u are only listening to lies then passing them on to others as most leftist do. economy went sour in 06 when dems took control of congress. obama says bush did it ...when acorn was bullying and suing banks to give bad loans...do u know who acorns lawyer was? probably not. obama was. but u believe his crap...he says he had no affiliations with acorn. hes more at fault then bush by far. bush wasnt the best but under him we lived like kings. now we will most likely head towards living standards like mexicos. if both parties didnt have any name or any donations mcain wouldve killed it. although mcain doesnt have the 4 years of leftist speach and public coersion classes that fooled most americans under his belt like obama did.hillary also took the same classes for a little bit but obama was said to be the master in it by his teacher. hes was taught to fool the public!!!

You must be a very smart, voting the previous President twice in a row... and you must be very very happy at the condition our country is in in the present... lets rejoice over your smartness and the other smart people who voted Bush and his gang...

To recover from this fiasco it will take at least 5 years... thanks to you our new generation will never receive Social Security benefits for which they will be paying for.

No, Barack Obama won the election based on his politics.

I think the Republicans have no other job than to insult Democrats. By the way not only the Democrats but the Republicans also voted Obama, as they would not stand to elect a first woman President... But now that President Obama has taken office they are troubled.

They troubled President Clinton all the eight years. Now they are after President Obama like a pack of Mad Dogs... President Obama was elected by the majority. Whereas the ex-president Bush was not elected by the majority... but the electoral college??? What a joke... they simply told the majority that they have no rights in USA... that their votes would be ignored so even after winning the Election Gore lost the election to the Dubbya. That is the reason why we are going through the difficult times now...

I believe that the Republicans have done more damage to the US Economy... by outsourcing jobs to other countries, making them a stronger economy. Loss of jobs boiled down to no Medical Insurance, loss of homes, loss of buying power and loss of revenue. Republicans it seems are the worst enemy of USA that has broken the backbone of USA. They are not happy with President Obama as he is a Democrat and also that he is a African American. The white supremacist cannot digest the fact that President Obama is a good intelligent human who has the ability of steering the country out of the mess that Bush-Cheyenne so successfully managed to dump the country into.

I am a democrat that voted for Obama and regret it now. Today I understand how many votes he got from the Acorn which was not legal. I met a person telling me that he voted 8 times with the acorn's help. The president so far disappointed me with his slow decisions on word issues and have his priorities all mixed up. Promised to send troops while running for president and now this does not seem so urgent, strange...

What are you trying to say my friend? Republicans did not cheat us when Gore had got the highest votes from the public, Bush won because of votes from Electoral college... don't you see that we were cheated... then we had four years of disaster but as if it was not enough we allowed Bush to screw the economy to "Thy Kingdom come... he was able to take USA to such a devastation that is almost irreparable. Don't you see that? Well USA is not yet ready for a women President so Barack Obama was the only choice from the Democrats. But if you had voted McCain then God forbid USA would have been the Poorest Nation in this world...

I am proud I have voted for President Obama, he is trying to bring the dignity back to USA but he is facing great hurdles from the GOP and as well as Democratic party. After all political figures are like crabs trying to pull each other down. They want to be rich and for that they would sell off the country to the highest bidder.

It has been almost a year, and what I see so far is the government is concentrating on health care instead of creating jobs. Stimulates money that we are going to pay for. Stimulates money that so far did not help the housing industry. It does not take much for someone to figure out how to bring back our economy. Jobs..jobs.
I do not know what happened with Bush election since I did not vote for him. But today it was very clear to me that Acorn contributed not a little but by a big percentage for our current president to be elected.
I talk to a lot of people mostly democrates (mostly friends) most of the are too disappointed in our current government. I agree with you political figures are like crabs, but I think that instead of concentrating to pass health care the president should concentrate how to create jobs.
I was also disappointed everytime I heard Obama opologizing to other countries. We should all be proud of our country.

The last I heard I am still entitled to freedom of speech and strongly resent anyone telling me I don´t have to right to voice my opinion be it over Obama or the man in the moon. If you don´t want to except the opinions of others then I suggest you yourself stop voicing yours and quit rediculing others for theirs.

Yes. Barack Obama bought the election.

My biggest concern with the $$ in this past election had to do with the number of foreign investors that sent money to the obama camp. You can't tell me that people were donating 104.** all the time. That is an odd number to be writing. Obama basically had his pockets lined with foreign money and we did nothing about it. Shame on us for allowing the rest of the world pick our president.

No, Barack Obama won the election based on his politics.

I think Barack Obama is good for America, but he has to challenge the status quo in this country. They are very strong because they are the Corporation, Wall street and the very wealthy that doesn't want anything to change. As long as they can keep the people ignorant they will continue to stay in charge of their wealth. These people know how to motivate the poor whites against minorities in this country. This keeps us from moving forward as a nation of immigrants.

The fact that obama had held very few "real" jobs to me is more of a concern than challenging the status quo. You have to have experience to challenge anything. He has never had to balance budgets, make a payroll, worry about medical coverage, worry about much of anything else, other that sue banks and other entities. He is, by far, the least experienced president we have ever had and honestly--- it is showing. My resume is better than his will ever be- sorry-

No one is trying to put Afican Americans down. Could you please just for one minute forget the fact that he is black. So what your saying is because he's black anyone that critizes him has issues with African Americans. Open your mind a little bit. I think it's great that we elected an African American to the Presedency. I just wish it wasn't this one. I'm juding him by the content of his caracter not the colour of his skin

This is not a race issue- and end that now. This has to do with the fact that this president is the least experienced president ever!-- AND I MEAN EVER. But BJ- you want race- 96% of all blacks voted for Obama and more blacks voted in this election than any other-- why- BECAUSE OBAMA WAS BLACK! Racism???? you want racism? it is all in the camp of the blacks-- had obama been white-- that hope of his would never had happened- he would not have gotten past 4 primaries. So... I would stop blaming race as obama pit fall. If anything- it is the only reason why he has gotten as far as he has.

Don't feel bad my friend, Americans know that the GOP has screwed them of the jobs and housing and did not want them to come back and also had no one else to choose, so they preferred Obama but they will try everything to bring out the dirt to malign his image as they did to President Clinton for 8 years...
