Dick Cheney has suffered five
heart attacks since the age of 37

Former US Vice-President Dick Cheney
has had a heart transplant and is now recovering in hospital, his office has
said.

It said the surgery had been carried out on Saturday at the Inova Fairfax
Hospital in Virginia.

Mr Cheney, 71, has had heart problems for much of his adult life, suffering
five heart attacks since the age of 37.

Mr Cheney served as former President George W Bush's deputy from 2001 to
2009.

"Although the former vice-president and his family do not know the identity
of the donor, they will be forever grateful for this lifesaving gift," Mr
Cheney's spokeswoman said in a statement.

She also revealed that Mr Cheney had been waiting for a transplant for more
than 20 months.

The spokeswoman provided no further details.

I hope he makes a complete recovery. It is a shame that someone with the former vice president's intelligence and abilities suffered with this his entire adult life. I have no doubt that he would have been President if he wouldn't have suffered with the bad heart.

Well, Pegasus you might need some grooming yourself, as there are those nasty nats and mites that can be almost as bad as horse-flies, the biting ones! Some spray and a few good stiff brush for you too!

Dick Cheney does not deserve to get a new heart. There are far more deserving people, much kinder and younger who have been waiting a long time.

Hypothetical question,however, just know I have a brother by choice and he has money and all of that stuff, healthcare, planted doctors, military push and business owner in California, he was on the same deal Osama was dealing with and with kidney failure! He needed a kidney and after many many many years, finally got one and there is so much that has to be matched, etc... Good question, none-the-less... Age and capabilities on paying and donor has a lot to do with this also, one thing I know, we only have ONE Heart and two kidneys! Thanks for your post!

I'm an organ donor. You can fill out the age limit of who you want your organs to go to, though who knows if these rules are followed.

Without Obamacare you'll still able at age 71 to get surgery and treatment, after Obamacare politicians and the elite groups will still be able to get it but the masses won't. They wouldn't approve it because you wouldn't be worth the money.

I am so happy for Mr. Cheney and his family. I know what it is to wait for a needed organ - my brother-in-law died while waiting for a liver. The Cheneys are good people, gracious people who have been maligned maliciously by the media - and not once in all his years of service did I ever hear him complain about the assaults on him as contributing factors to his heart problems.
