Devo is an American punk rock/new wave band formed in 1972. They are "Devo" as in "De-Evolution" and want to make themselves relevant again by jumping into the 2012 election fray. Oh boy, just what we all were waiting for, right? The band released a song attacking presidential candidate Mitt Romney's ancient history, 1983 (29 years ago). Leave it to a band from the 1970s to talk about something from the 1980s during the 2012 election.
Musicians try to make themselves relevant in politics despite (a) having no idea about politics and (b) don't care about offending half of their audience. I would like to see Devo balance their perspective and make another song about another presidential candidate's ancient past -- President Obama's drug abuse during high school.
Ben Shapiro of Breitbart, the Chicago Tribune and others have covered Barack Obama's drug use numerous times. Shapiro wrote:

I would enjoy seeing Ted Nugent covering The Toyes (and Bob Marley) performing "Smoke Two Joints" and dedicate it to President Obama.

Obama, by all accounts, was a habitual drug user in high school. He tried cocaine, he admits in Dreams From My Father; he “tried drugs enthusiastically.” The Chicago Tribune reported back in 2007 that Obama thanked the “Choom Gang” in his high school yearbook; “chooming” was Hawaiian slang for smoking pot. The Honolulu Advertiser reported that Obama’s senior portrait “prominently displayed … A package of ‘Zig-Zag’ rolling papers and a matchbook.” One of Obama’s close friends was arrested for drug possession during high school.

Wikipedia description of The Toyes "Smoke Two Joints":
"Smoke Two Joints" is a song originally written by The Toyes, who performed it in traditional Reggae style and released it in 1983. According to The Toyes, "one fine fall day on a small island" of Oahu in Hawaii, two of the band members, Jim and Sandy, were sitting under a large banyan tree on Kuhio Beach, "tokin' on some sweet bud & jammin' on a rootsy reggae funky town" when they conceived the song "Smoke Two Joints."

Devo later this month will release a song called Don't Roof Rack, Me Bro! (Remember Seamus) — a track about Republican candidate Mitt Romney's infamous 1983 road trip in which he transported the family dog from Massachusetts to Ontario in a kennel strapped to the roof of the family station ...
