Chris Wallace's excellent pedigree as a journalist and interviewer shined through again this past Sunday on Fox News Sunday.

Wallace asked Issa point blank if he had any evidence that the Obama White House was involved in the Fast and Furious scandal.

Issa's response: "No". In case there's a part of "no" some readers don't understand, that means none. Zip. Zilch. Zero. Here's the exchange from the Fox News Sunday's transcripts:

WALLACE: Question: do you have any evidence that the White House officials knowingly were involved in these decisions, that they knowingly misled Congress and are involved in the cover-up?

ISSA: No, we don't. And what we are seeking are
documents we know to exist, February 4th to December, that are, in fact,
about Brian Terry's murder, who knew, and why people were lying about
it, and get to the truth. That's all we want.

Eric Holder ends up being the custodian of the documents. We would go
to the deputy attorney general just as easily if he would give us the
documents. That's all we are looking for is documents, which are
internal to the false statement and not part of the deliberative
process, you know --

WALLACE: I just want to be clear. We've got to get out. No evidence at this point that the White House is involved in the cover up?

ISSA: And I hope they don't get involved. I hope
this stays at Justice. And I hope that Justice cooperates, because
ultimately, Justice lied to the American people on February 4th and
didn't make it right for 10 months.

Issa says he is "seeking documents we know to exist" from Eric Holder. How can they "know" documents exist if they have never seen them? Doesn't this sound a lot like the search for the "real" birth certificate?

Issa's committee has spent $2.5 million on this witch hunt so far, and WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER.

As an American taxpayer, are you sick of your money being wasted on election year political witch hunts?

They don't have the evidence because Holder has stonewalled for 18 months.
Congress has a legal right of oversight over the justice dept. No one has lost their job, repremanded and someone died because of these decisions.
It's easy - just hand over the records and be transpaent like Empty Suit promised.

Fast and Furious was authorized at the highest levels.
Holder is hiding thousands of documents, which is why they can't prove anything.
It's called a cover-up, because they are covering up their criminal activities.

These people know no shame for spending your money on worthless pursuits. They have spent more than $1.4 Trillion on a decade of warring, just to prove that GWB could avenge Hussein's rebuke of his Daddy and giving the weapons Daddy gave Iraq to the Taliban. As long as they hold any office they will continue their war against society and their intent to turn the U.S. Government completely over to Wall Street's billionaires and Reagan Banks. Issa is just a brainless operative in the larger scheme of things.

I'm sick of the wasted money which could have been cut out if the DOJ and the WH had complied with Congress in the first place and delivered the documents requested. It is the DOJ and the WH that are stonewalling here and that is what is costing the money. The president sure raises the question of whether or not the WH was involved in Fast and Furious when it issued it's executive privilege. Kind of like someone taking the 5th. They won't testify against themselves but everyone knows they are guilty.

While we have "No Evidence That Obama White House was Involved in Fast and Furious", what we do have is a curious timing of an enacting of Executive privilege, a refusal to turn over documents as requested in a Congressional subpoena, a general disregard for Congress or the checks and balance system of the US Government.

And the party (conga) line to claim this is all a witch hunt when the people of that same party had no problem going after Presidents, attorneys general, or representatives of the opposing party.

Odd, does the left want him to say something different, do they know something the rest of us do not.

I think it is very important that the documents asked for (and the committee did not ask for all of them) between the lie and then the retraction of the lie be given. We, the nation, need to know 1. why the lie, 2. who is involved and 3 why they tried to cover it up. WE certainly owe the truth to the families

As to wasting money - this is not a waste of money, there was gun running and death - finding out the truth of this is the best use of our money. Now the year long investigation of Major League Baseball and subsequent trials - now there was a waste of money

If Issa is really interested in "truth", then why doesn't he look for it at the beginning? The program was the brain child of the Bush Admin., they implemented it under another name, something like Operation Gun Runner (?). Issa has refused to pull archived documents of Operation Gun Runner, he is only interested in what the program has done under Obama. That's what makes it a clearly political witch hunt, not a quest for "truth".

That is not true - The Bush program ended in 2007, was with the then president of Mexico's approval and full knowledge, no guns were "just lost", and it had some success.

This cluster f**k began in 2009, all guns were lost (74% remain unaccounted for), no guns were tagged or traced, no information or communication with Mexican government and two agents for US were killed with these gun

Nice try, but this is all on this administration

You all who??? I am hopeful there will not be a contempt vote because I think it is not good for the country. I used to think Holder was a bit of a villain but now realize he is just a dumb ass who, like Obama, has no clue what the hell is going on. Incompetence and stupidity run rampant on this one.

I do think the nation and the families deserve the truth - why the lying document in February last year and the retraction in December - we should demand the information and no one should be happy without it. Men are dead, families in Mexico by the 100's are dead - there is no excuse for this and anyone who thinks this behavior is acceptable need to examine their character

Twist it all the way you want, remember it was the democrats whom trial Clements twice at the cost to the tax payers of over 10 million dollars.

Issa statement stand, they have not evidence connecting the White House and they are not on a witch hunt to connect the White House. They want Holder and Obama claim executive privileges is why there would be a connection. Remember, Obama can only claim Executive Privileges if the information contains information connecting Obama having knowledge of Fast and the Furious.

By the way, you pointed out how this wold be a waist of taxpayers money. Yet when it is pointing at the 500 million dollars given to Solyndra , you liberals love to say that is only 1/100th of a percent of the national budget and had no effect of the debt. Yet 2+ million is a big deal, figure this out this would be 1/10000 of a percent of the US Debt.

All that pales when compared to the money wasted waging a false war in Iraq. Let's not play the "who wastes more money game", it's subjective. And I think both the Iraq War and Issa's witch hunt are a total waste precious resources.

The cost of both the wars in Iraq AND Afghanistan over the course of 11 years is less than obama has added to our national debt each year he's been in office.

Issa;s investigation doesn't even register on the cost scale.

I want the people stupid enough to put this plan in action fired or arrested, it resulted in the death of Brian Terry. At this point Holder has been a pain in the ass to Congress, it's been going on for over a year and he still is dragging his feet and failing to cooperate because he has something to hide. Now that Obama has evoked Executive Privilege I'm sure he has something to hide too.
