Oh course they are...where do you think all of the big money for their campaigns comes from? Rich support the rich and buy the regulations they want to squeeze out the middle class. And Obama says he is all for the middle class....WAF Joke.

Dan Rather is a well known lier. Thats why he got fired from CBS. This might be true in some cases, but I would not trust Rather about anything he says.

Rather is repeating what is already known. So we are not taking his word for it.

Is he supposed to be telling us something we don't know? When the THUG, Big Government, comes calling, some businesses give in because they think that's the way to survive. This is why government needs to be extracted from ALL commerce and taxation of individuals and business! Our tax system should be according to use and use alone. Therefore, nobody could be influenced by the power of government to overtax or withhold funding!

Then you would have no competition, safeguards, transparency or a democracy in short time. A hand full of bankers would be running everything.

Actually, I'm not undecided. Big Business and Big Government are absolutely in bed with each other. It's almost like a revolving door. While in Congress they get donations, PAC money as incentives to do big businesses bidding and when they get out of Congress they go to work for the business that's been paying them all along. Great country, America.

DUH! This is exactly why I always ask libs why they are hell bent on giving more control to govt as apposed to big business. After all, big business doesn't have armies, the IRS, FBI, CIA and all civic services under its control ---- the government does. Which basically mean it has us under its control if it wishes. If we make sure govt is kept small and its powers balanced and limited, then business will be so constrained as well.

That is why when Franklin was asked, after the Constitutional Convention, what type of govt he and the other founding fathers had given the people, his response was “A Republic, madam, if you can keep it!” We must keep our govt reigned in.

Nothing will change either if the money is not removed from politics. The country is now of, by, and for the billionaires campaign donations, and they expect a lot more in return. The same thing happened in the Gilded Age of 1896.

Don't get me wrong I'm libertarian so I am very much a supporter of the free market and I am not against democracy. However I have often said that when democracy and capitalism are combined you are left with a dictatorship ran by mass media.

I am honestly not sure how to fix this problem. Me and my friends stay up nights debating ways to get corruption out of politics as we have come to the conclusion that corruption is the key to every problem our country faces.

Another one of my quotes is:
Capitalism is slavery using materialism as a whip.
Meaning that today's Americans being up to their eyeballs in debt is little better than indentured servitude. It is better of course, but the likenesses should be noticed.

I have been attacked on this site innumerable times for saying that we have had corrupt capitalism since the 80s. Capitalism and free market is wonderful when not corrupted. It made this country prosperous in the 50s and 60s for all.

It's been going on for much longer than that. At least since the late 19th century.
