Progressive Political Correctness run amok. Sgt. Mark Johnson of the Southeast Patrol Division of the Dallas Police was transferred with out due process, over a" he and shes say" complaint. "The controversy at the Dallas Police Department Southeast Patrol Division started over a Chick-fil-A sandwich, but now there are questions about bigotry, harassment and discrimination.

It happened August 1, on Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, when people were asked to support the restaurant chain’s president on his traditional marriage stance.

Sgt. Mark Johnson allegedly put the sandwich in front of two lesbian officers and said, "Guess where I ate today?"

But Johnson insists the female officers were the ones who approached him.

"We have two versions of what happened from three employees, and at this point, I don't just want to stand on one version or the other," said Dallas Police Chief David Brown. "I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle."

Obviously, the police department's internal investigation (or "due process", as rational people would call it) ultimately indicated that the officer was in the wrong in making certain comments or taking certain actions, I'd say he got lucky in only getting a transfer.

The bottom line is... that they could have easily fired him instead of letting him keep his job.

Rufus, read before you comment next time. The Patrol Sergeant was transferred to the third watch at county jail within a few hours. Internal Affairs had just started their investigation and is not expected to complete for another few weeks. How's this due process, maroon?

I've read the facts and my statement stands as true. It is common police practice to separate combatants. If you don't like the actual facts, tale it up with someone who actually cares what you think.

"The Dallas Police Association, who represents all three of the officers, say they are getting two versions of the story, and while they are neutral on the issue, the association is frustrated by a move made by the department before the investigation was complete." http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2012/...

Rufus reading comprehension is fundamental!"The Dallas Police Association (DPA) said Johnson has already been disciplined before a complete investigation. He was transferred within hours of the incident to an overnight shift at the jail." Again you're wrong and obtuse.

Absolutely. Reading comprehension is fundamental. That's why it surprises, nay, shocks me that yours is either absent or MIA. Again, you have your facts confused.

The DPA(Dallas Police Association )is correct and you don't remove a Patrol Sergeant without completing the investigation. He DPD moved the Sgt, to another Patrol Area, then that would've been fair. Again Rufus you're showing your poor logic and reasoning skills.

Again, his employers have the right to separate the combatants. If you insist on forcing your broken logic and missing reason, I'll suppose I'll just have to continue explaining things to you, albeit at a much slower pace for you than would be required for a more intelligent individual.
  • ScoutLdr Guru_T_... 2012/08/13 01:49:14
    ScoutLdr
No, actually it's your failure to understand that being removed from Patrol Duty and assigned to jail duty is an demotion. County Corrections Officers are paid less than Patrol Officers. The Corrections is also considered less prestigious than Police work.

No, you've failed to make your case. An employer, of which that particular police department is one, has every right to separate combatants. If for some silly reason you prefer your ridiculous opinion to mine, feel free to keep it. I've got my own.

I will keep my opinion which based upon facts and experience. Not ignorant speculation. Had the DPD transferred all parties or placed everyone on paid leave, instead of singling out the Sergeant it wouldn't exposed the department to a civil suit.

Again that's shallow and unenlightened response. Which is par for the course for you Rufus. Also if you knowing nothing of background it's arrogant of you, which is another one of your defining traits. So let clue you in. Brother and Brother in law are LEO's( Law Enforcement Officers). My sister is an Civil Rights Attorney and Professor of Law. So I've been steeped in these types of cases from points of view of the Officers and the Attorneys.

So, you're related to a couple of lawyers, and you think that makes you an expert? Sorry, pal, I don't think so. My cousin is the Chief of Police in a very large urban community. He deals with these testosterone cowboys and their barely-hidden racism and intolerance AND the unions that protect these idiots each and every day. I'll take his word over that of your relatives any day. Again, you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I'll stick with the facts and you can keep your fantasy.

I can't speak for you, but my life is great. You should know that your diagnosis of misanthropy is well off-base. If you remember correctly, you're the one who for some unknown reason decided that my well-researched opinion wasn't as good as yours and that I needed the gift of your special knowledge, not vice-versa. If you regularly behave like a conceited know-it-all to people you've never met and make a ham-fisted attempt to assert yours as the superior knowledge, then you really ought to expect those people to respond negatively. You can keep your religious rhetoric, too. I have no need for it.
