The Dallas Mavericks took the NBA trophy home -- and SB Nation isn't that surprised.

The Dallas Mavericks are the 2011 NBA Champions, beating the Miami Heat in six games. But that's not an indictment of building around superstars. In fact, it bolsters the current paradigm.

It's no secret that the Miami Heat got some...well, heat...for building their newly revamped team around big superstars just to win a championship. Parts of the team even sacrificed their usual pay in order to bring on the superstar players.

So does the Mavericks win mean that focusing on superstars doesn't always work? As SB Nation points out, maybe not.

Dirk Nowitzki was named the NBA Finals MVP and he is also the highest paid basketball star on the team. The team also had one of the highest payrolls in basketball for 10 seasons straight.

No matter what you think of either team, stardom exists everywhere. But we congratulate the Dallas Mavericks on their win regardless.

The Mavs championship win is a perfect example of how dedication, hard work and most of all a refusal to quit in the face of long odds can pay off. I couldn't be prouder of the total team effort they displayed thoughout the playoffs.

Couldn't be happier, Dallas played team ball, and that is how you win. I'm not even a Mavs fan, but I have liked Nowitzki through the years, and being a Suns fan, I am happy to see Marion and Kidd get a ring.

I also hope Barea has continued success in the NBA, I believe he was key to the Mavs championship.

True! Barea was on fire...hitting treys and running up the lane for the fast layup. The Heat could not stop that guy! Jason Terry was amazing, too. He was hittin' them beyond the arc like it was second nature to him.

The Mavericks deserved to win the NBA championship.

Didn't follow it all that much but the early circus environment the Heat brought on themselves didn't endear many casual fans I would imagine the ones in Cleveland were dancing in the streets.

I am from Cleveland and like ALL of Cleveland...rooted for Dallas because of James and how he let his team mates down and how he treated Cleveland Fans.

While he is recognized as one of the Best if Not the Best players in the NBA he is still learning how to me a MAN.

I rooted for Dallas because they were the underdog and everyone expected the Heat to blow them away.

James has been a bust the last two years in the playoffs... and teams are double teaming him and MAKING HIM WORK.. and he can not handle the defenses.

Dallas had more heart, more desire and WANTED the Championship that James and Wade..

Goes to show you... some times TALENT is not enough..

I am a Baltimore guy and, even though I have my issues with Cleveland fans, I was pulling for Dallas for the exact same reason.

Happy? That's an understatement! I've been a Mavs fan since Tarpley, Blackman, Aguirre and Perkins were all Mavs. I remember Jason Kid's rookie year. Yeah, I'm happy alright.
