This is unbelievable. It is one thing for a parent to do what has to be done to help their sick child get better but to purposely hold them down so they can be tattooed is horrible. All that child knows is he is being hurt and his mom is helping them hurt him and it will indeed have long term effects. This goes way beyond the issue of spanking your child that we seem to have in this country and could be classified as child abuse of the worst order. There is no excuse for this at all.

That's horrible but many people have their sons circumcised and that is worse as circumcision removes tissue while tattooing changes the color of the pigment.

Yes but circumcision helps to prevent infection...but a tattoo can cause infection and is not necessary...it is more of a vanity thing... :)

There is a big difference. Circumcision is a quick snip, tattooing is a long painful process. Ask most guys who are circumcised, and they will tell you they are glad their parents did that for them. I sure am.

Circumcision isn't a quick snip but the removal of half the flesh of the penis and is very painful and it takes sometimes as much as ten minutes to be completed. Not all guys who are circumcised are happy about it and most are happy not because of the circumcision it self but because their culture has taught them to like it. I was circumcised as an infant and whish I wasn't.

Infants are circumcised very very young and don't remember the pain this boy however will remember.

Just because you can't remember something doesn't mean it doesn't effect you psychologically.

People learn to do things such as talk before they develop the ability to remember things. I mean you were able to learn what words mean when you were young without consciously remembering what circumstances a word was used in.

People who have Anterograde Amnesia are unable to develop new memories. They have all their old memories but are unable to develop new memories. To spite this they can learn new tasks. For instance a person with Anterograde Amnesia can learn to solve a maze faster overtime to spite having no memory of ever solving the maze each time he/she solves it.

Also infants are sometimes able to develop phobias to spite not being able to remember why they became afraid of something. For instance if you make a loud noise behind an infant and scare him/her a few times just he/she is getting close to a mouse the infant will develop a phobia of mice to spite having no memory of the event.

These all count as psychological effects and show that there are some things that are only explained if something can effect a person psychologically without that person being able to remember it.

That's terrible. I've heard other stories like this and I don't like when people say things like "Who cares?" or "What a nice piece of art." I don't think little kids should get permanent tattoos, even if they do want them. And, have people never heard of temporary tattoos?
