I think it's more an indication of a useless Gov. in Corsine and a weak Democratic candidate in Virginia.

The governorship in Va. does not mean much anyways. The governor in Va. is pretty powerless and limited to one term, hardly any time at all to get anything done.

No, my vote for Bob McDonnell was neither a referendum on Obama, nor a vote in praise of Republicans. Quite simply, I voted for the best candidate among the choices available and this time around the best choice happened to be Republican. Don't count on this trend continuing indefinitely, and don't make assumptions just because they suit your political views.

People vote for different candidates for a multitude of reasons, and off-year elections are never a predictor of larger, more wide-spread races.

So, while I'm glad that McDonnell won this race, I'm not willing to translate that into an unrivaled victory for Republicans next year.

The govenors won and even the mayor in New yourk won. I would think it a sign except that two seats went house seats went to the democrats. New Jersey and Virginia have always had republican governors when we get a democratic president.

Once healthcare reform is passed and people learn it's not the end of their world (and actually reduces their healthcare outlay) Democratic party fortunes will turn around. Also, the case can still be made that the economic downturn was inherited and caused by greed (a republican hallmark).

Who in their right mind would agree to pay rent for 3-4 years for an apartment they aren't even living in?.. its the same scenario here. Yet these liberal fools who think they're getting something free are having orgasms that the House passed this outrageous legislation, though barely, still passed it... it will never make it through the Senate.
