Could Same-Sex Marriage Cost Obama Black Support and 2012 Election?

96 percent of black voters chose Barack Obama in 2008. Some black Christian leaders want to change that in 2012. They believe that Obama's pro-gay policies -- mainly his support of gay marriage -- will cost Obama some support from the black, Christian community.

Bishop E. W. Jackson Sr., president of the group Staying True to America’s National Destiny (STAND) started the "Exodus Now" effort to encourage blacks to leave the Democratic party. "It is time for black Christians to have the faith and courage to refuse to associate with the Democratic Party that has become anti-Christian, anti-Israel, anti-Church, anti-Bible, anti-life, anti-family and anti-God,” said Bishop Jackson.

Bishop Jackson added, "...The Democratic Party has shown itself to be so inimical to the biblical values of Christians and Jews that it is time for a mass exodus. The Democratic Party has turned its back on us, it’s time to turn our back on them."

The National Urban League published a report called, “The Hidden Swing Voters: Impact of African-Americans in 2012.” The report suggests that Obama will lose re-election if only 60% of blacks turnout in 2012 -- the same amount that turned out in the 2004 presidential election, which George W. Bush won.

The reason that the gay-marriage initiative in CA went down in flames in 2008 wasn't because of the Mormon vote - it was because of the black voter turnout. Obama has opened the door to his defeat - and also his potential "outing": http://tinyurl.com/obamasgaylife

It has nothing to do with them not liking romney or even knowing what he stands for. just like in the last election where obama got 96% of the black vote, they will vote for obie because he is a brotha...just that simple. where i come from we call it blatant ignorance.

I think the number was closer to 94% (out of the 131 million voters, blacks made up 12.1% of the vote).
    http://pewresearch.org/pubs/1...

Gore got 92% of the black vote, and Kerry got 88%. Notice a trend there?

so the trend is blacks vote dem you are saying.....ok
but......did you see the mindless blacks saying they loved obamas policies when they were given mccains? they voted soley on skin color in the last election. i think obie could have come right out and said he was the antichrist and they still would have voted for him.

So let me get this straight... you're saying that blacks tend to all vote Democratic - but if a black Democratic candidate is on the polls, then ALL blacks who vote for the candidate do so because he's black?

Too bad Rev. Al or Jesse Jackson or Alan Keyes didn't know that all they had to be was 'black' when they ran for President in order to get more than 50% of the black vote.... Oh no wait they are *whispers* black..... WHO KNEW!

Prejudice is what I call blatant ignorance, which is what you just put on display....

Romney's policies are exactly the reasons why in a recent poll he is still getting 0% of the black vote and even losing to Obama when NASCAR fans were polled!!

And these are hardly two groups of voters that overlap.

better hop out of the bottle sis, i think you are short on air in there. polls that are out are exactly what the media want the braindead to believe. mitt will win by a landslide, any reasoning individual can figure that out. obamas record stands for itself and his pandering to blacks, illegals and fruits wont change that. so throw some more ignorance at me now.

Poppy cock. If you were a minority that had suffered through centuries of oppression, you would support one of your own as well. And Romney went to the NAACP and spit in their faces by insulting Obama in front of them. You expect them to vote for him after that? You are delusional.

I don't really care who this guy is: There are some reputable black men in prominant positions of leadership who would not vote for Obama for a multitude of reasons. There are many black people who believe this same-sex marriage thing is wrong. But, the vast majority of blacks will vote for him anyway because, for so many, race trumps everything.

Well you should as a persons motives and character is what really counts when listening to what they have to say.... Otherwise you prove that you are of weak mind and will fall for any okey-doke thrown your way.

Did it ever occur to you that the reason why this man doesn't get traction in actual black communities is because he is talking garbage and nonsense and has nothing to do with Obama's "blackness"???

Does it even occur to you how bigoted and prejudice YOU sound?

    Rednecks for Obama

Are these people voting for Obama just because of his race too or is it just black people that you think all share a collective mind.

The numbers will dwindle only slightly. Just yesterday, I heard a Pentecostal minister, who happened to be Black, lauding Obama......During the conversation he couldn't give any achievements other than the ACA, but he (Obama) needs four more years (or more) to effect the Hope and Change he has brought to America. I would hope that the real White, Black, and Hispanic Christian communities would stand on real conviction, and not on just this moral issue. A protest by not voting for Obama (nor Romney, or voting for anyone else) does nothing but assure further assaults on people of faith of ALL colors after his reelection. Convictions should trump skin color. Doesn't seem to work that way in practice.

The Sunday before the DNC, over 9000 people had come together to pray for the convention. Then, wanting to extend hospitality to the visitors to their city, 56 of the churches set out to “Adopt-a-Delegation.”
They put together gift baskets featuring Carolina Pralines and a letter welcoming them to the city and offering assistance in transportation, childcare or spiritual matters.

According to writer, Todd Starnes, The DNC banned the churches from distributing the gift baskets to delegates because, DNC said, the congregations hold values that are contrary to the party platform. Read that carefully. David Benham, one of the organizers of the outreach said, “We were just trying to display Southern hospitality.” DNC officials, however, conveyed to city leaders that the Christians would not be allowed to present their gift baskets.
Even the Charlotte Mayor’s office jumped in to tell the churches not to participate, saying that their views on women’s rights are contrary to the platform. That’s right….the same platform that booed God later.
Benham then asked if they could send welcome letters to the delegates. Again, the DNC refused, because, they said, “The churches hold pro-life values.”
The baskets did not contain a single political or pro-life message. They just wanted to give them regional candles and a welcome letter. The DNC refused to return numerous phone calls seeking comment.
But it gets worse. When a gathering of 200 Muslims showed up to pray for the convention, the Dems welcomed them with open arms and the liberal media gave extensive national coverage.
It is ironic that this day, in the shadow of that Islamic prayer event, we commemorate the greatest tragedy in American History, when Muslims attacked America on September 11, 2001, brutally killing thousands.of innocent people.
muslims who publicly state their hatred of our country with fierce determination to kill us all and put America under sharia law, are welcomed by the Democratic Party while Christians are pushed out of sight like criminals because they respect life and hold family values.
These are the same democrats who want you to vote them into office to direct the United States of America and every life from beginning to end. It is obvious that we must not let this happen.
Our thanks to Rev. Ed Berkey (retired) who alerted us to this story.

Anyone that honestly would sit there and assume ALL blacks vote for him because he is black are ignorant and stereotypical. I didn't vote for him the first time and I won't now. People that did vote for him purely over color are the ones still complaining over the economy and few have regretful feelings towards that vote. Race is the one factor that should not be a reason for any vote. I'm ashamed that because I am black, I get put into groups of those that voted for him due to his color.

It shouldn't be, but I would say that ANY Democrat would get the majority of Black support. Is that stereotypical? No, it is just the way it breaks down politically since the 1960s. Guess the real test would be if Obama were a conservative or Republican. I don't see Gay marriage as a big enough issue to draw any significant Black support from Obama.
