Could Same-Sex Marriage Cost Obama Black Support and 2012 Election?

96 percent of black voters chose Barack Obama in 2008. Some black Christian leaders want to change that in 2012. They believe that Obama's pro-gay policies -- mainly his support of gay marriage -- will cost Obama some support from the black, Christian community.

Bishop E. W. Jackson Sr., president of the group Staying True to America’s National Destiny (STAND) started the "Exodus Now" effort to encourage blacks to leave the Democratic party. "It is time for black Christians to have the faith and courage to refuse to associate with the Democratic Party that has become anti-Christian, anti-Israel, anti-Church, anti-Bible, anti-life, anti-family and anti-God,” said Bishop Jackson.

Bishop Jackson added, "...The Democratic Party has shown itself to be so inimical to the biblical values of Christians and Jews that it is time for a mass exodus. The Democratic Party has turned its back on us, it’s time to turn our back on them."

The National Urban League published a report called, “The Hidden Swing Voters: Impact of African-Americans in 2012.” The report suggests that Obama will lose re-election if only 60% of blacks turnout in 2012 -- the same amount that turned out in the 2004 presidential election, which George W. Bush won.

The reason that the gay-marriage initiative in CA went down in flames in 2008 wasn't because of the Mormon vote - it was because of the black voter turnout. Obama has opened the door to his defeat - and also his potential "outing": http://tinyurl.com/obamasgaylife

You don't know what is in the minds of Black people. Black people don't know what is in the mind of Caucasians. A person's vote is none of your business. You speak of Black people as if Black people are mentally inferior and incapabe of making sound decisions. What is a sound decision to you may not necessarily be the right decision for someone else, regardless of skin tone. Slavery is over and Black people will vote for whomever the hell Black people choose to vote for just like Caucasians will vote for whomever the hell they choose. Do you not realize that many Caucasians voted for Obama also and will vote for him again in November 2012. What is your reasoning for that?

If that was the ONLY issue, then maybe...But given Romoney as the opponent and His constant disdain for minorities, women , and the 47% ....this will NOT rate as a priority because of Romneys elitist attitude....Not gonna happen....

Disdain??? Absurd distortion of what was said and why. I would trust Romney over this proven incompetent any day. Women and minorities have taken the heat (highest unemployments and biggest income drop) under this worthless president - It is my hope that the lights will turn on and they will realize how badly they have been abused and used by Obama. AND I am a woman and a minority - I am not fooled by rhetoric, I live in the real world

42 years ago, long before the great orator-cum-moneymaker had heard of Bradford, I went there with two friends, one of whom was an Urdu-speaking Indian. We went into the etnic zone to try some absolutely delicous Pakistani cuisine. Our presence was tolerated at best, and our Indian friend was left in no doubt that our custom would not be welcome again. Probably an irrelevant comment, but...

It will certainly cost him votes, but he will not lose the majority! Whether or not his "epiphany" will cost him overall is still a question. Will he gain more than he loses? What really matters is his overall gain or loss. I wish we could get to the point in this nation where we voted our conscience instead of according to which group we belong! Have we really lost our conscience in favor of our race, gender or religion?

We are talking about same-sex marriage here. Do Mormons allow same-sex marriage? No......No........No!

We ARE talking about blacks faith and how it will effect their vote...same sex marriage ISN't the ONLY issue here...Their belief in the Bible encompasses more than JUST that...Its a fact you can't legislate morals and whether a law is passed for or against same sex marriage, Its an individual choice how a person lives.....By the way I don't support same sex marriage, but I don't support Romney nor the faith he's trying to declare is something that it IS NOT!!!! either...
