CONVICTION in 1957 Murder (finally)

on 3 December 1957 ..
in the town of Sycamore IL ..

a 7 year old precious child ..
Maria Ridulph ..

enjoyed the day playing with her friends in the snow ..
(while a teenager in the neighborhood came to talk to them both about Dolls and with friendly piggy-back rideds)

During the evening
her playmate went home to get some mittens ..
and this precious little girl disappeared ..

five months later her body was found ..
and the teenage neighbor was questioned
(but .. an alibi was given him by his mother at the time)
so there was always a suspicion .. but it couldn't be verified ..

Now passes so many, many years ..

His mother .. dies in 1994

(and his half-sister .. hears mom tell the horrifying tale of her Brother's evil deed)

but it was not until 14 years later that the half-sister would tell this to police ..

(and curiously enough .. even back in the 1950s -- this murderer's then girlfriend also contacted the police with evidence that lent credence to further dispute the alibi .. )
(in other words .. this 1950s was when the unused train ticket was found and turned over to police)

The wheels of "Justice" turn slowly indeed ..

but now it is 2012 ..
on 14 September 2012 ..
72 yr old Jack McCullough (formerly known as John Tessier)
was CONVICTED of this Murder ..
(A former police officer .. that is what he did

(note that BOTH McCullough's own family and the Ridulphs were relieved at the GUILTY Verdict .. and his own family members emphasized this was a just result .. )

REST in peace .. precious child ..
now the survivors of this horror .. can also find peace ..

knowing the monster who killed their friend, their sister ..
is finally CONVICTED of the evil deed ..

Better late than never... a cold case, but finally... and I hope the "boys" in prison have their way with this bastard... and not even wait until he drops the soap... and his lying ho of a mother be damned...

A child killer should never be allowed Life in prison, they should Die, and go straight to Hell where they belong. The Death Penalty for Fist Offence Stops Repeat Offenders.

I remember this coming up a few years aback as a "cold case", and have prayed ever since that it would be resolved. Thank God.

Thank God - his mother finally did the right thing and told someone..I don't know how someone could keep a secret like that..it's not like it's some simple secret it's a secret involving the disappearance of a child..geez - I would think she had to be kind of scared of her own son..I would have told when it happened

Certainly good that this crime was solved but I cannot help but wonder if there are others out there that he harmed.

There are other victims - he sexually abused a teenage runaway that he and his girlfriend had taken in when he was a police officer and he sexually abused his sister. He was charged with a misdemeaner in the one and got away with the other...there are undoubtedly more though..you have to wonder why he chose a career as a police officer..crazy..I cannot understand the mother..she knew she lied for him in that child's disappearance and that he sexually assaulted his sister..it's a pattern..I just don't understand the silence

It is still too much delayed for true justice. But this is why the State observes no statute of limitations on murder. Murder is the most extraordinary of crimes.

There is never a statute of limitation on certain crimes! Murder is one! Justice delayed is Justice denied.

Im glad! That poor innocent child had her whole life ahead of her and it was snached from her hands! and her parents.....I feel so terrible for them, My condolences. I hope that bastared burns in hell for what he has done

This is the second recent case where police dropped an investigation based on family members who either did not go to the police or vouched for their sibling/child. The first was Amy Bishop who shot her brother in the chest and attempted to commandeer a getaway car. It is very sad police are so subjective. Maria Ridulph may have had peace sooner.
