Gawker recently published a controversial piece alleging that Fox News anchor Bill O'Reilly had a veteran detective with the Nassau County Police Department in Long Island assigned to investigate his wife's personal life.
According to the website, Richard Harasym, who has been with the force for 23 years (and working as an elite internal affairs detective for the last 12), was told last summer to see to a private investigation, issued by O'Reilly, regarding an NCPD officer who was supposedly having an affair with O'Reilly's wife.
Now, it's pretty clear that something is going on between O'Reilly and his wife. Several sources have reported that Mrs. O'Reilly moved into a different house registered to her name, and has transferred her voter registration to the new location.
But none of that is what makes this story controversial.
Gawker claims the reason O'Reilly was able to get Harasym on the case is because the anchor was "considering making a major donation to the Nassau County Police Department Foundation."
If that turns out to be true, the story could be a major blow to O'Reilly's reputation.
However, no one has gotten a hold of Harasym just yet, and given the fact that his whole job is to sniff out crooked cops, it seems odd that the detective would take a crooked assignment like that sitting down.
Gawker says its source was "someone who has a longstanding personal relationship with Harasym, and who heard the account directly from Harasym himself."
The source claims Harasym said, "Do you know Bill O'Reilly? I got called into my boss's office saying they wanted me to meet with these two PI's working for O'Reilly to go over some information because a detective was having an affair with O'Reilly's wife."
But until we hear it straight from Harasym's mouth, we have to leave this in the rumor pile.

Harasym ought to get to work solve the L.I. serial murders down at the beach instead of following Mrs. O'Reilly around.
You can find the real clip.. or I can do it for you.
Now his wife, who I'm sure is just as tired of him as many are, is supposedly being investigated by a detective on Long Island, investigating her possible affair with yet another cop.
Did O'Reilly consider making a large donation to the same police department where the the detective works?
It wouldn't surprise me. He's already shown that he'll consider paying off people to get what he wants.
Um, why did you write an unsubstantiated story in the first place?
that pretty much sums up the whole of this story---
As for his wife, she sounds like she's come to her senses!
On the other hand, any cop having an affair with O'Reilly's wife and getting caught risks losing his job because of violating conduct clauses.
My brother's, girlfriends sister-in-law said that her nephews best friends girlfriends mom was told by the FedEx man that his sister got a call from Elvis who said he saw the whole thing
He wanted Internal Affairs to talk to the police officer having an affair with his wife not join in the investigation. It is a legal request he made to Internal Affairs to investigate an officer if that said office is doing some thing that reflects poorly on the police department. That it is the Internal Affairs job to investigate all complaints no matter how stupid they may be.
