Conservatives Claim Roberts Upheld Obamacare Because Of ‘Cognitive Problems’ Due To Epilepsy Medication
This one you just have to laugh at. In the wake of Chief Justice John Roberts' surprising decision to actually put the United States Constitution and the needs of the American people ahead of partisan activism by casting the majority vote to uphold the Health Care Reform Law, the Right Wing is scrambling like rats in a spotlight to come up with some reason to continue to ignore reality. So now, in typical Right Wing fashion, they're revving up the bus and preparing to throw John Roberts under it. Even though this is the man who handed the Koch Brothers the ability to buy U.S. elections, it seems Roberts has proved that no good deed goes unpunished. And given the fact that this is coming from Michael Savage, who is probably second only to Rush Limbaugh as the most misinformed bigoted America hater around, it's all the more fun to watch.

Conservatives Claim Roberts Upheld Obamacare Because Of ‘Cognitive Problems’ Due To Epilepsy Medication

Chief Justice John Roberts — a George W. Bush appointee — surprised many conservatives when he wrote the majority opinion upholding Obamacare’s individual mandate, but now some conservative activists are trying to link the side effects of Roberts’ epilepsy medication to his jurisprudence.
On his radio show yesterday, right-wing host Michael Savage — who has previously called autism a “phony disease” — claimed that Roberts’ epilepsy is the root cause of his “cognitive dissociation” in the Obamacare ruling:
Let’s talk about Roberts. I’m going to tell you something that you’re not going to hear anywhere else, that you must pay attention to. It’s well known that Roberts, unfortunately for him, has suffered from epileptic seizures. Therefore he has been on medication. Therefore neurologists will tell you that medication used for seizure disorders, such as epilepsy, can introduce mental slowing, forgetfulness and other cognitive problems. And if you look at Roberts’ writings you can see the cognitive dissociation in what he is saying.
Another right-wing radio host, Bryan Fischer, echoed Savage’s sentiments in a tweet citing a 2007 New York Times piece about the Chief Justice.

In true form, the Drudge Report also linked to Savage’s comments in the wake of the ruling.
It’s remarkable that epilepsy is somehow still stigmatized significantly more than other neurological disorders. It’s even more remarkable that Savage, Fischer, and Drudge would stoop this low.

"The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States"
"To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof."
PS - When you find the part that says that corporations are people and that money is speech, please let us all know.
Corporations are people in issues of taxation as laid out by IRS code. Give the Kool Aid and learn the truth instead of sticking with your ill informed opinion that the health care is a constitutional right.
On a lighter note:
Getting hot there also isn't it? We have been in the high 90's for a few weeks now and heat indexes already 103 and 104. Stay out of the heat if you can PP it doesn't take but a few minutes to be in trouble. Have a good weekend.
And no, corporations are not people in issues of taxation. If they were they would be paying taxes at the same rate that individual human beings do. Corporations are a distinct legal entity, but they are not persons, they do not have the rights of human beings, and they certainly are not protected by the First Amendment.
PS - It's supposed to get up to mid to upper 90s here through the weekend. I have a crack of dawn tee time so hopefully I can play golf and get back into air conditioning before I melt entirely, but I am not happy in this kind of weather.
For the past everal weeks, much as been predicted about how the Supremes would vote. Based on Roberts' past rulings, I too believed he would join in support and and the count would be 6-3 in favor of ACA. What surprised me was Kennedy, not Roberts. Roberts was fairly predictable.
Obama's law is by no means the last word on health care. Far from it, but at least we are finally on first base and can go forward with modifications. Of course, it would help considerably if Republians would step up. They have good ideas about tort reform. But no, Eric Cantor is planning a huge appeal on July 9... that will go nowhere in the Senate. They waste more damn time with drama than any House in the history of this country. Totally worthless.
Nothing wakes you up faster than cool bucket of water in the face. I’m willing to bet that when the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States of America votes on 6th November 2012 that it won’t be for President Obama.
And I say that they remove his sick a** from the bench immediately. Since there will be an opening President Obama will need to appoint a new Chief Justice. :o)
Brilliant!!!!
LMAO!
Why don't these idiots just admit the law was constitutional; to do so, they'd have to stop spreading hatred and lies.
