viagrapenis pumpbirth control pill

Do you think it is hypocritical for all these limp member Conservative men to have their insurance cover Viagra and Penis pumps but to deny insurance coverage to women for contraceptives ?

All joking aside:

Viagra takes a medical doctors visit and prescription and so does birth control pills and other forms of contraceptives.

Viagra and penis pumps are used to treat a serious condition called erctile dysfunction which effects many men and can interfere in reproductive health of men.

Birth control pills are used for a wide variety of medical conditions including regulating menstrual cycles and reducing the growth of ovarian cysts and some cancers.

Now according to the Conservative men and some women contraceptives should not be covered because tax payers would have to absorb the cost. Well if that is true then why are tax payers covering Viagra and Penis pumps for men ?

FACT- the tax payer would not pay extra if women have contraception covered by insurance. Insurance is covered by the premium most women pay for their insurance just like all other services covered and most people never even cover their deductible each year and especially not younger people and women that would be the people that would benefit from this coverage.

FACT- Having contraceptives available and affordable reduces abortions and unwanted pregnancies thereby also reducing cost to tax payers for expensive unwanted pregnancies and more unwanted children that end up on welfare and increases poverty in the world.

FACT- women have a right to have their health needs covered by their insurance and most Insurers have said they would be glad to include this coverage in their plans to reduce Insurers costs for unwanted pregnancies and cancers related to womens reproduction health. The costs for treating a cancer or unwanted pregnancies cost much more to insurers and that drives up premiums for everyone.

So why are we providing Viagra and Penis pumps for men and not contraception for women ?

The only thing that counts is a mans penis. I did not realize that you did not know this. this is very hypocritical and life threatening to some women where as Viagra and penis pumps are for sexual pleasure not a health condition.

BC is already covered by insurance plans! The current issue is about Religios liberty NOT BC.

The problem is the Obama 'mandate' BC must be free and given to all no matter your religious objections. That is uncontitutional. Get it?

No it is not by most insurance plans!

This is not a religious issue it is a health care issue and why are mens viagra and penis pumps covered and not contraception for women.

There is no Mandate to make contraception free and it is covered by the insurance premium and deductible that all people and businesses that offer insurance pay.

Now why are your blue pills and pump paid for and not contraceptives for women ?

No it doesn't. if the company pays the premium the individual still usually pays the deductible. Very few companies if any pay the whole amount except for top corporate execs.

There is still a premium paid for insurance and a deductible by almost every employee. Cristina is wrong and should have corrected herself.

Most companies do not pay all of their employees premium and their is almost always a deductible. That has not changed so it is not "free" it is just now covered by the insurance.

People on private pay insurance that includes most young people, students and self employed have to still pay the premium and deductible so nothing they get from insurance is actually free.

"Howard Koh, MD, HHS assistant secretary for health, estimated that by 2013, 34 million U.S. women ages 18 to 64 will receive the benefits spelled out in the new ruling. While preventive care saves money by avoiding or delaying more costly chronic disease care, Koh said the new benefits would mean a "small" increase in premium costs."

Do you get it now ?

Wrong. This whole brouhaha occured because the government is trying to force Catholic organizations to either violate their beliefs, stop providing any health care coverage, or close their doors. Since many Catholic organizations, including my entire dioscese, which oversees all the parishes, schools, hospitals, and relief organizations therein self-insures rather than going with some completely separate insurance company, this mandate would essentially force them to provide contraceptive coverage. Note also, though, that hormone therapy used to treat menstrual disorders, polycystic ovarian disorder, complications relating to meopause, etc., would be more accurately covered as what it is- hormone therapy. Calling that contraception makes an inaccurate judgment regarding the purpose and necessity of the treatment. Hormone therapy is a health care issue. Taking drugs just because you're fertile like most healthy women of a certain age and you don't like that is not a medical necessity, however.

Rush never mentioned the churches once in has slanderous comments!

No church is forced to provide it. If they are a business they have to follow the same rules as all businesses or they can get out of business.

The insurance companies will provide it and if churches own private insurance they can let women that want BC use a different insurance plan.

Your argument failed the smell test!

I have to say... What? I've never heard of any of this. I don't think either should be covered by my tax money...perhaps some forms of birth control should be partial covered... To assist in keeping slutty teens from over population.... And the accidental pregnancy. Penis pumps? And viagra? Covered by tax money? Why in hell would that even be a discussion?

Viagra and Penis pumps are covered because they treat a serious medical condition and Contraception is also used to treat several serious medical conditions.

So why is Viagra and Penis pumps covered and not Contraceptives for women ?

I never saw sexual problems being a medical issue...more like a personal pleasure issue. But I'm shocked its not covered for women...I mean here in Ga women get free birth control at the health dept. Our insurance covers my wife so I dunno. With Obama giving free passes and with how the world is towards women I'm shocked it isn't covered....because around here women are like gods...they can kill their kids and walk away with probation...
. So I dunno. From what I've heard Mr Obama has pretty much given all kinds of free benefits to the Mexicans you would think he would help women too. So I dunno bud.

I answered honestly. I didn't vote for Obama because he is un American and dangerous. But as I said I don't know the answer to your question. In most cases women get birth control products free or under insurance.

When a woman takes hormones to treat a medical problem, she is on hormone therapy. When she takes hormomes to suppress something that isn't even a disease just because she wants to avoid conceiving a child, then she's on contraception. There is a difference even when the drugs are the same, and when insurance companies don't understand that, they have no business in the health care field.
