Yes! I knew there would be one of you saying something like this. How twisted you are to think that I have fun watching people die and get hurt. I have fun watching people cover their butts because they can't possibly admit to making a mistake.

This makes for a very sad day here in Arizona. I didn't agree with all of her viewpoints but she did indeed embrace the 2nd Amendment and was for securing our border here in AZ. She was a republican that switched over to the Democrat party. How divisive have things gotten that we have lunatics (he was apparently a fan of the Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf and was a left winger?!?!) running the streets shooting 9 year olds and women and federal judges. I highly doubt he will be put to death for his crimes as he appears to be barking mad from the onset. For better insight on him, google Jared Loughner and see the YouTube craziness that pops up.

Here comes another big fight AGAINST gun rights...urbancriminals shooting each other...ehhhh, a politician gets shot...we need to outlaw guns.

Not just a politician, but a politician (moderate Dem) and three of her aides in addition to a federal judge and the 9 yr old little girl that was murdered, and bystanders. 5 folks are in surgery now (including Giffords so please pray for her recovery) and 5 are in critical condition. The nutjob that shot her may have had an accomplice, so further arrests may be forthcoming.

The man should get what is coming to him, no doubt. I just feel the far left will "use" this tragedy to take away our civil liberties

Obama is pro-gun and while I consider him a blue dog, many of us on the left are pro-gun. It is mostly the centerists who are anti-gun.

I think the military service was in error in reporting. It was for a person with a different spelling. This guy is a typical product of the public education system (and some hallucinogenic drugs, it sounds like).

Agreed. Sounds like a definite legally insane individual. While his act was abhorent, he may well be someone like the Reagan shooter who was not able to tell right from wrong because of his delusions.

My thoughts are with Congresswoman Gifford and her loved ones. Also with the young childs family and the others caught-up in this horror!

It is VERY sad that our country is so divided (thanks Obie) that this is what we've come to here in the U.S. I only hope that poor woman can recover. They won't put the little bastard that shot her to death because he's obviously barking mad.

UPDATE, 3:45 P.M.: Times reporter Brian Stelter tweets, "Ariz state senator Linda Lopez tells Fox, 'We just heard that she is responding to commands. She made it through surgery.'"

The Times has a live blog with more reactions to the shooting. According to Rich Castigar, the chief of the Pima County police department,18 people had been shot in the incident and six people are dead. According to ABC, "10 people shot, 4 stable, 5 critical, 1 child dead. Doc extremely optimistic Giffords will survive."

UPDATE, 4:15 P.M.: According to AP, the shooter has been identified as 22-year-old Tucson native Jared Lee Loughner. Business Week is speculating that this is his YouTube channel, and this is a picture of him. Anthony de Rosa tweets, "The aforementioned page on Jared Loughner's MySpace has been taken down. It had a photo of a Glock on a book, possibly the Constitution

here it comes..blame bush and the tea party and sarah palin..the problem with that is they are not the violent ones..the violent ones were the ones that are capable of hating and doing a thing like this and there is no excuse or blame anyone else for this but the man whio did it..who knows how f---k-ed he was or what his problem was with his warped mind..

Bush escaped this one but the first thing out of her father's mouth was "The Tea Party." Another friend and political wannabe Annie Lloyd starting pointing fingers at the Tea Party and the Minutemen over KTAR radio this afternoon.

Every one has the right to gun ownership. In my opinion fringe radical groups from both sides help fuel the rage in the shooter mind, Sometime the voices that are spoken are different voices in some people head.
