Congressional Reform Act of 2012

Yo'Adrienne..AFCL 2012/06/05 16:30:18
1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no
pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social
Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the
American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all
Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the
American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void
effective 12/1/12. The American people did not make this
contract with Congressmen/women.

Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers
envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their
term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will
only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive
the message. Don't you think it's time?

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS

You!

I'll pass this along since it includes everything I believe except for term limits, two terms and then they can run for another office if they choose and have the support, two terms there as well.

Agreed. I would have no objection to that, if I ran for Congress. But you're only going to get that by replacing the current Congress.

Still, this is a good way to embarrass the current Congress.

Great ideas also all those who violate the Constitution or follow ideologies that are directly opposed to the values and principles it sets forth need to be removed from office immediately! Communists or socialists in leadership positions are enemies of the Constitution and the American people and they should never be in the position to destroy America from within again! We must take a stand against those who are trying to bring America to her knees financially or otherwise!

LOL, and are we supposed to "hope" that Congress will cut off it's own body parts to pass this?

I'd like to agree with that, but I've watched it sliding downhill my whole long life, to where now we have no voice, while resistance has been made "illegal" in virtually every way they can imagine.

I disagree with the whole retirement/social security deal. This is a sure way to get only the wealthiest among us in the House and Senate.

You see, if Joe the Plumber leaves his job for 6 years to sit in the House, he looses all of the benefits he would have gotten towards his retirement from his job.

I don't, however, have a problem with making them pay into their retirement systems - and I don't think that they should be allowed to draw their pay for the rest of their lives.

    Bring back true STATESMEN.

I know you have seen this before....or something similar.....add to it if you like....we will compile a list and then forward it to our representatives.....shouldn't keep them in the dark about what WE EXPECT from them......!

I expect them too present and vote upon a budget and then stick to it. that is in their job description.
I forgot this one, no special law exemptions. For example Nancy Pelosi's insider trading deal with Visa, everyone else would be facing insider trading charges.
