Congress is returning from a week long break, and they already have a full-plate on their hands. I really hope those congress members had a good rest, because their to-do list is larger than the hill they sit on.

Issues on the Congressional agenda include the nomination of Elena Kagan, a financial reform bill, and the extension ofunemployment benefits. But you can't forget the lingering illegal immigration issue that his been plaguing Washington D.C. for weeks now. Then, of course, there is the issue of the oil spill and a energy reform bill.

Congressional members better invest in some Tylenol.

But what issue do you think Congress should take on first?

why would Congress people take a "vacation"? people are starving and dying outside, some in Washington DC. government people are hired (preselected) before any vote, not valid or safe that way due to potential for corruption, which is the cause of suffering and death. i worked every day for years, testing buses, using a bicycle, hiking, to inspect every area in south Texas and in Florida, and the entire giant Mexico City valley on a bicycle alone (3000 miles in 6 months). i worked until i had a stroke and the government and medical system left me to die! do you want a Senator that works? i know enough law to remove thousands of expensive criminals from government, and enough science to improve the USA economy by trilllons of dollars per year! put me on a ballot from any state, even from the war-torn ghettos of Hawaii, and i will change your planet! - james mcashan for the US Senate

wow..I see lots of good answers but there are two that I would like to see. To Balance the Budget before the end of the fiscal year...HA and figure out the Census disaster before we loose count. Elections are coming up and Michigan is the same after loosing half of Detroit and the rest of the state. Most responses I see are on the tax spend issues...whats up with that...do you have the money to support more legislation or what. I am confused and wondering if we are really in touch with ourselves and the miraculous things we can do without legislation. Don't be a consumer!

THe Bush tax cuts need to be extended. These feckless Chicago folks are causing fear and until that fear goes away, no movement will happen, i.e. bank loans and investing in any new enterprise. Hiring won't happen until organizations feel that the fiscal depredations of the Obama regime won't continue. This is the same or similar crap that caused the great depression to last so long. If they would unfence the investors they would take off like a cattle stampede. There also needs to be someting done to curb the abuses by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Until That's done we still face another meltdown similar to 2008. The same clowns are still incharge of that circus!

I think they should go back on vacation, maybe Australia and all of them learn scuba diving with a half full tank by the part of the Great Barrier Reef with all the Great White Shark, right before a typhoon and during an earthquake and fly there on a old jet, being flown by a Pakistani pilot who doesn't like America.

Get Kagan in, and then I think we need to focus on the Illegals...mainly focusing on how to most efficiently deport their illegal butts back to where they came from and ensuring they stay there. By getting rid of them, we may then open up jobs for citizens and help the economy.

Great response from a moderate that does not believe in Republicans or Democrats. Since 3 million people are now out of work that were not before Obama and the radical left came to power and we are trillions of dollars deeper in debt as Obama and the radical left continue to steal money it seems to me someone needs to stop them. If you believe this is the greatest country on the face of the earth then you would put more trust in the people who actually make this country work, rather than a bunch a radical socialists bent on destroying this country.

So, who do you suppose those people are? Do you mean the companies like AIG, Leaman Bros, and Meryl Lynch? These people lied to the public for years about their assets, while paying their CEO's billions in bonuses, while the country was going down the drain. This was under the Bush Administration mind you. These companies were given money under the TARP plan, then a subsequent bailout approved by Bush, before he left office. In fact, Bush put no conditions on the TARP money he gave to all of those companies. No one can account for that money! So who is stealing money. I don't trust these thieves you seem to suggest that I trust. Don't be so quick to bend over and take it up the rear again.

Let's not forget Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac who are in the back pocket of the liberal Democrats. If you look you will see that all of these companies gave to Obama in 2008. Unemployment and the economy starting to go downhill started with the Democrats taking control of Congress in 2006. By the way, you never answered any of the questions and just went on your irrelevant liberal rant. Why do you claim to be a moderate when you are not? I have read many of your posts and not one of them is in the center or right of center. You are typical of liberals who have to hide who you really are.

The people who are stealing money is the government. If you are so dense that you do not even know how wealth is created, then you need to take Econ 101. Business and people create wealth, not government which steals it and redistributes it to citizens to buy their votes and to keep them in slavery. You should know this, after all, you claim to be a moderate.

What makes you think that I am not a moderate? What is a moderate in your opinion? If you are too dense to realize that BOTH PARTIES are bought and paid for by special interests, then you are not interested in the truth, just senseless arguing over nothing.

You side with the left on every issue that is posted, that is not moderate. Mainstream America is right of center. Have you seen the Gallup Poll where Americans state where they are with their ideology? 41% say they are Conservative, 36& say they are Moderate and only 20% say they are Liberal, the rest gave no opinion.

People from all sides contribute to political parties this does not mean they are bought and paid for. This is a simplistic notion that is based in either anger or hatred of the political system. the fact is no system is perfect and to try and create a "Heaven on Earth" is impossible and will only lead to more frustration. If you are so anti-Republican and anti-Democrat then why don't you post anything critical of Obama and the Democrats?

You obviously have not read or joined in our all of the posts that I have responded to. I do not support either party blindly, so that is just your opinion, which I have no desire or obligation to appease. If you would take the time to research a little more, you would have found plenty that I have said against the Democratic Party.

Like the fact that I do not agree with their stance on abortion, guns, religion, or gay marriage to name a few. Where I disagree with Republicans is that I don't support anyone being told that they could not make these decisions for themselves. So, this is why I consider myself a moderate.

A thief is a thief, no matter what disguise they choose to wear to the heist. Special interest groups run this country, and they just so happen to own both parties. It is up to the people to hold both parties responsible. We cannot do that by dividing the country with the likes of the Tea Parties. We need an honest and unbiased third party to speak up for the people.

Dividing this country like the Tea Party?! I think that Obama and the Democrats are dividing the country with their rein and ruin policies. When you attack the very people who are responsible for the success of this country so that you can steal from them to buy votes, when you divide people by calling people racists because they disagree with you, that is dividing the country.

So you think the Republican policies had nothing to do with the financial crisis, the mortgage collapse, rising unemployment, etc... Democrats also played a part in this, so I'm not giving them a pass either. The economy was on it's way into the tank before Obama took office. He even said so himself. Why don't you take a listen:

  • Rockies... Patriotic 2010/07/19 17:02:21

Here you go again, taking a decidedly liberal stance. You say you blame both parties, yet only the right gets your attention. Just because you say special interest groups dominate both parties does not mean you believe it. You said Republicans were playing politics with peoples benefits. You said the Bush administration was responsible for the economic downturn and now you go after the tea party as being a special interest group. Where is your mention of labor unions that are in the back pocket of the Democrats? What about the NAACP and their recent racist rants trying to divide the country? What about the Democrats ties to environmental groups headed up by the now billionaire Al Gore? No one cares if you are a liberal, moderate or conservative, just state what you really are.

Thanks for keeping this conversation civil, I enjoy a good give and take.

I think you consider liberal any stance that you disagree with. You love those special interest groups and trust them to look out for your best interests. Lol! You make it so easy for them to rob you blind, it's like taking candy from a baby. We don't need to argue any further, just vote for who you think is best to run this country, and I'll do the same. We'll see what happens.

Then name the special interest groups on the left that you oppose? You have been asked this several times and you never answer. Like I said, no one cares what your views are, but if you are afraid to say what you are, then you must be hiding something and that would be trying to pretend like you are neutral, therefore superior.
