Computer Model Shows Perfect Storm: Is Obama Battling Romney or Economy?

Every four years we hear the same refrain: "It's the economy, stupid!" James Carville coined the phrase when he served as a campaign strategist for Bill Clinton's successful 1992 presidential campaign against sitting president George H. W. Bush. Carville knew that Clinton could win if he focused on the bad economy instead of the candidate, George H.W. Bush.

President Obama won the 2008 presidential election against Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on several issues including the bad economy. Four years later, Obama faces a perfect storm of a stuttering economy: high gas prices, a volatile stock market, increased unemployment, and a crisis in the Eurozone.

George Washington University associate professor John Sides created a computer model that determined President Obama has two opponents in his 2012 re-election battle: Mitt Romney and the horrible economy. "It's not the only factor, but it's arguably the most important factor," said Professor Sides.

CNN reports:President Barack Obama is running against former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, but the economy may truly be his greatest opponent.

BHO is battling Romney; because of BHO's slowing funds....Mitt had better grow some; for BHO is not afraid to destroy anything or anyone in his way...

Actually, both! However, I like Romney but he needs to get some fire in his belly and learn to inspire. His speeches, though excellently crafted and factually on point, could be patented as a sure cure for insomnia.

Obama is a great Orator with no substance. His speeches are real stem winders. Time for Romney to wind some stems himself.

Although his history is company purchase, downsizing while firing and then selling all that is left after bankruptcy and closure of business. Piss on Obummer as well...C none of the above. Well... Ron Paul is good, but reminds/similarities of Perot. Here then gone. Ted Nugent gets my vote! Lol jk...kinda

romney see's the businesses that have the possability for sucess ,,and knows when to save em & when to sell em ,, his intuition is good !

this country was built on industries , and businesses supporting those inds' , america is a republic on a capitolistic base ,,,and with few jobs ,fewer income taxes paid "trickle effect " and so for past 60 yrs the govt. printed money & sold it ..but selling goods "was the real business ."

some are still thriving ..and some could have been still doing so ,but the support fact is over seas now ( mfgng ) and const , smaller businesses are dependent on larger ones ,there out sourced ,or off shore capitalists bring their money here & buy them change tatics .and use existing DBA ..then the asian bankers ,can smell a business in trouble & and well ya know the rest ..

I'm a PAUL supporter, paul was in congress before obama was a junior senator "or community org ..."and was a sucessfull doctor before that ,,but give romney some credit where deserved !

Point taken. I'm just disgruntled about it all. Bank of America...oxymoron ... How many illegals financed during a time of fluctuating interest? How many with 40-50k annual income were financed for 300k plus homes? The list goes on and on... Rip off...print more paper is their answer. I'm just disgusted by it all and have a justified trust issue. Romney is only in the position of power by the inherited power/connections.

Actually he's battling all you evil Cons for the rights of all Americans to remain living under the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence, instead of under the Nazi tactics of the Republicon Party. Being the terrified slaves to authoritarianism you all are, you're fighting against your own best interests, but that's never stopped you before.

His failed RECORD.. WITHOUT which the Economy AND Romney wouldn't be anything for him to worry about..

But the MORE this country goes down the drain,, the MORE the People reach out to the GOVERNMENT and THAT is his ONLY ally..

Actually the economy was just the better of the 2 choices. Obama is really battling his failed socialist agenda that has created a perpetual debt machine that cannot be contained. In November when he is kicked to the curb by the voters, he need only look in the mirror to face his enemy!

Obama's only goal is to defeat Romney; it would be nice if NOMAMA would focus on the economy. Three and a half years into (hopefully is only) term in office he a he has not even started yet.

Obama would love for people to focus attention on Romney .
Unemployment ( real ) has 1 in five out seeking a job. investments in retirement accounts , stocks and bonds stagnated since Socialist democrats controlled congress.
Half of all college graduates , Hundreds of Billions in hock for worthless degrees from diploma mills .
Large numbers of doctors prepared to give up practice due to Obamacare.
Massive tax increase due to Obamacare tax .
Electricity due to triple and quadruple due Obama's EPA mandates.
Food prices skyrocketing due to Obama's policies .
Companies closing and moving offshore, Rich giving up citizenship and leaving the country .
Billions wasted on failed electric cars, solar panels and other half baked ideas.
Failure to secure the border , Tens of millions of illegals given virtual amnesty
Obama sponsored international Gun Smuggling killing hundreds of Mexican citizens .
The list goes on and on , Obama surely don't want anyone looking at his Tenure , which amounts to whining about having the job and playing golf .

Not so strange at all. About the same (47%) collect welfare or foodstamps, don't pay taxes, get free housing and cellphones and ER care; IOW the undeserving survive anyway.

And beginning with 2008, they have sided with (or become) the commies and are now the "majority" who "Rule". As the $$ run out they will blame the producers and the rich, and will eventually succeed in bringing poverty and destitution to all.

The left which always touts evolution seems to have closed eyes and closed minds when their thinking is put to the test. Have they ever heard of "survival of the fittest", one of the vertebrae in evolution's spine? What you have described is in direct opposition to survival of the fittest AND to evolution as it relates to needed changes for a species to survive.

Yeah, well, there is this weird philosophy out there which will cannot grasp that concept, and thus believes it can save humanity by stealing life from the fittest and handing it over to the misfits. At some point later, will they ask themselves "what have we done?"? when there remains nobody who is fit even enough to hand them a morsel?
