Colorado, Washington, and Oregon all have ballot measures to legalize marijuana for personal, recreational use this year. How are you voting for this if you are in one of those states? If in another state, how would you vote?

I'm in Oregon and I will be voting to legalize marijuana this year for adults 21 and older. It is another step toward ending the war on drugs and another step to getting the government out of my personal business.
For clarity I would point out that I do not use marijuana and haven't for the last 15 years or so. I would probably celebrate by purchasing some one time, but that's it.
While support for the legalization of marijuana is at an all time high, it would still be federally illegal and many workplaces may still fire people for failing a drug test with marijuana in their system, but I see this as a major step forward.

Pele Emerging 2012/09/14 23:07:47I will be voting to legalize it in my state.+4I live in Washington State, and it's one of the things I think is none of the government's business. The war on drugs has done nothing but enrich the drug lords. Time to stop wasting that money and worry about the real problems facing this country.

Making marijuana illegal will not stop people from using it, this has been proven over the last century. All it being illegal has done is move the wealth from potential taxation and movement in the economy to the hands of drug dealers and cartels. Mexican cartels are very dangerous and very rich - a lot of it because of marijuana. Drug dealers are often dangerous and deal in other drugs as well. Legalizing it would curb the black market by a significant margin.
The deaths from black market dealings and drug cartels will not only be more numerous, but more brutal than any potential traffic accidents.
Marijuana has been a medicine for Centuries as well as a religious plant used by virtually every culture in the world, and Industrial Hemp has been the substance that most fabrics, ropes, foods, sails, and many other items in our past were made from, and a whole host of newly discovered uses has been found for Industrial Hemp, if farmers were allowed to grow both of these plants, they would have a brand new cash crop they could sell which would be a boost to their industry, and many Industries would spring up literally over-night which use Industrial Hemp to make many items. This in itself would create hundreds of thousands of badly needed jobs, which would be an instant boost to the tax base for our government, and families could return to work which would be an instant boost to their personal financial status, and our nation would begin a new economic boost and growth of our GDP would instantly begin to rise again which it hasn't done in years. Yes, I am very much in favor of both marijuana and Industrial hemp being re-legalized, frankly they should neveer have been classified as Illegal to begin with, why people support keeping marijuana and or Industrial hemp illegal is bewildering to me.
everywhere but have just read what this amendment is about. They want
to legalize it and then use it to fine people for DUI. This is unacceptable!
They are trying to revise the amendment but were unable to get it done
before the deadline for 2012.
Can you be more specific about the amendment you are refering to?
Next would be drinking too much alcohol.
My point is that driving is a dangerous activity that most americans take for granted. It is important to be clearheaded and free from distraction while driving. Other peoples safety as well as the drivers are at risk.
With all the stuff out there that is legal but terriable for you, this just seems right.
